Did you get the heated or non-heated version? If you have the non-heated version, make sure you fill the clean water tank with hot water.

I have had good luck with the LGCM using a method posted by GRStilez on Autopia.org. Basically, it consists of mixing 4oz of APC, with 2 tspns of protein stain remover (can be found on other detailing sites) and mixing it in with 2 gallons of water (hot). Scoop up your mixture with your hands or your brush and rub it into the carpet. Then extract with LGCM. Make sure you vacuum first.

If you do a search for "Bissel" or "little green clean machine" on that site you should be able to find the very looooooooooong thread he started where he details his process. The LGCM is a great product. Sure, its no replacement for a real extractor, but my $80 Ridgid vac and my $45 (heated) LGCM (got it on clearance) are a great combo that do the trick for me. Especially since its just not feasible to drop $1,000 on a pro extractor. Good luck

Just an FYI, using anything other than the Bissell formula in your LGCM may be a problem; I've destroyed two of them by using other cleaning solutions. Once was with some APC+, the other time I was using woolite and a touch of oxiclean. Both times the solution foamed up in the recovery tank, and backed up the vacuum motor/burned it out. I still don't understand how it happened, since it didn't foam upon application, but just a warning to be careful.

I've heard similar stories as well. I always use straight water in the clean tank. When I mix solutions it always goes into a seperate bucket and is extracted by the LGCM.
