  • Planning Ahead

    Hello, Everybody!

Ok, here's my problem (not really a problem). I bought a brand new Porter Cable DA a few days ago and all is find. But, here's when the problem comes in... I want to plan ahead for the future when I buy a rotary polisher. *** The main key is to avoid spending extra money on supplies for the rotary down the road.
    (The Rotary - Dewalt 849/ 7" - 9" or Makita 9227C/7")

I was planning on buying for the DA polisher:

    1 backing plate/W-64DA/6.5"
    1 case of pads 6.5" - w7006, w8006, w9006 (2 pads each or 6 total)

So, I guess my question(s) are:

    1) Is there anything I can buy now for the DA that I could use on the rotary in the future? (if anything)

    (The Rotary - Dewalt 849/ 7" - 9" or Makita 9227C/7")

    2) Should I buy bigger pads & backing plate (8") for the DA polisher? ( But, I heard they don't work as well as the 6.5" pads on the DA polisher for removing swirls.)

    Thanks for any input!

Well, I dont know about removing swirls, but I do know bigger pads can be harder to fit into smaller areas.

You didnt mention what products you were using, just remember one pad for each product, and a clean 7006+bonnet for removal.

All your small foam pads will work great with your rotary buffer as long as you have the correct backing plate for the rotary buffer.

We offer a large backing plate for the dual action polisher but in reality, when you use the dual action polisher with any pad larger than our small foam pads, because you increase surface area/contact you decrease effectiveness for removing defects.
