Been using ScratchX to remove water spots from the hood of 04 black Z71 I have removed most of the waterspots but if you look at it from a certain angle you can see fine scratches where it has been applied ,been applying with a terry towel and also used a microfiber with the same results. Anyone know how to prevent these scrathes?

Hi 98SS, it's very hard to get black color scratch-free especially working with hand. You have to use foam applicator to apply Scratch-X after using MF/Terry cloth. Work it in until the diminishing abrasives have broken down to a almost swirl free finish. Working on warm surface might cause scratches too.

You may even need to consider stepping down in abrasiveness. In addition to using a foam applicator, which are most gentle, if you have really soft paint, you may need to go ScratchX, then ColorX.
