  • what to do with a buffer?

I had a question. In my garage from a few years ago, I have an orbital buffer. I believe a craftman one from sears. 9".
I do plan on getting a DA soon.
I mainly do everything by hand.
but, if I want to put the buffer to use, nothing serious. I still want to apply wax by hand and I will use a MF to do a final wipe down.
can't I just add a bonnet and maybe help with giving a better shine, etc.
or is it a waste of time and just stick to wiping by hand?
want to get your input and thoughts on this?
    Thanks.

    Hey,

To be very honest, I would not use it. The odds are that the cotton bonnet will inflict swirls into the paint. I would strongly suggest getting the G100 with the proper pads for product application and a few Microfiber Bonnets for product removel. Then you will see a difference!

I used to use a GMC orbital for applying wax, and I never had any ill effects in the sun from it. Thats after polishing by hand, and then waxing with the orbital and checking the car over in direct sun. The car I use it on though, the paint is pretty hard VW Passat.

I would check out the prices for bonnets in that size. They sell different kinds of bonnets at sears, its deffintly not anything compared to a DA, but they work on a tight budget. Try it on a small area, look at the results, and decide what you think.

The orbital won’t be able to rmove defects like a DA but you can use it to give your arms a rest when waxing or using pure polishes.

By using Gold Class Foam Finishing Bonnets to apply products

and Gold Class Clear Coat Safe Microfiber Bonnets to remove dried wax

you’ll get good, even coverage with less work.

            thanks for all your input.
I still plan on getting a DA.
but like what 'the other pc' said, maybe I am aiming to give my arms a rest from time to time.
I don't want to use the orbital to do all the jobs of the DA.
but maybe using a nice microfiber bonnet to remove wax or apply a pure polish. something along that line.
            thanks again.
