  • IMPORTANT question..

I have a very important question to ask. Maybe not important to others but very important to me. I have been reading about not storing your products in the cold temps and what not.

So my important question is, if I place an order with ADS. and UPS or whoever delivers the products at 8 AM, and I don't get home from work until 6. Will that be alright for the products to sit outside all day and afternoon?

I'm looking at placing a major order to prepare for spring time, so I dont wnat to end up with ruined products from sitting outside.

    any advice is appreciated alot!!!!

One option would be to call UPS and tell them to hold on to it. For me. I would have to drive about 20 minutes or so to pick them up.

Mike, thanks a lot!! I will wait a day or so before I order. Usually I'd just wait but I wanted to take advatnage of the DA specials and they end @ the end of December I think.

Jeff, is this something you call the actual shipping company about or the company your ordering from? That's always an option too for me.

That is hard question. Yes, is an important question to almost everyone during this time of the year. Most of the products that get frozen over time for 1 to 2 weeks or more will definetely go bad. I see that you want to order from ADS in AZ and ship your order to you home town in PA. According to UPS, ground shipping will take 5 days. The question is how long does the package stays in the uninsulated truck betwee shipping hubs...
Let say if Mike comes with "bad" news, you have two options...well three....

Option 1. The most expensive. Have everything ship overnight or 2nd day delivery. After your package goes out from the hub of origin, the ups plane flys to TN and arrives around 2 am. to the UPS main hub. Then another plane takes it to its destination. Once arrived to the destination hub, it gets sorted out and put to the delivery truck.

Option 2. Wait for spring to come... I know this option might not work for you since you want to take advantage of the DA promotion.

Option 3. Order your DA package first that only comes with your DA and bonnets (DA package 1 from ADS) so that you can take advantage of the promotion and when the weather gets warmer order your other waxes, polishes, detailers, etc.

Actually, I just thought another option that may work for you but its a little bit risky but it may worth a shot.
Order everything you want now. After you get your order let it sit for a day or so inside. After that inspect your products to see if has been separtated. If is so, shake it to see is it mixes again. If not you can call ADS or even Meguiar's customer service and they will replace it. If you call Meguiar's directly they will ship their products in their warehouse in TN which is closer to you.
I know is a hazle, but you might get lucky that NONE of the products got damaged because of the weather.

          I hope this helps.
          Cheers!

Great thoughts romulus! I do have a few options here, so at least that is good. I'm going to wait until Mike comes back with some answers from the others at Meguiars! I'm also going to email Rick at ADS with his thoughts. I defiantly don't want to drop $350 on detailing supplies and have them all ruined.

I'm already finding it hard to drop that much, let alone think that they might be ruined!

Romulus, you also bring up a good point of them sitting in a warehouse waiting to be put on another truck!

Great question regarding temperature. You always want to avoid product being exposed to extreme heat or cold when ever possible. One thing I would recommend and actually did when I lived in Chicago was if there was a possibility of products freezing I would arrange to have them delivered to a work address or to a house where I know someone would be home to receive them. The temperature has alot to do with how quickly the temperature can effect the product. If it is 32 degrees and the products are out for a few hours, should be no problem. If it is -18 degrees and there out for 7 hours. You may have a problem with some of the products.

              Hope this helps

Tom, thanks a lot! I am debating on having them delivered to my grand parents or my moms work. My own work won't work out to well!

Rick, from ADS is checking with UPS to see what kind of measures we can take. As brought up above, not only sitting outside of my house upon deliver, but also sitting in a cold warehouse for a day or 3 til its loaded onto the next truck!

hopefully Rick or even Mike will be able to come up with a solution.

Rick is going to have UPS hold the package at their facility when they get it, and I"ll just have to get it so that eliminates the products from sitting outside. And he said he's never had a problem with them sitting at a facility before as he has worried about this before too.

overall, problem is fixed! to bad they just sold out of g100 again!

I am glad that your dilemma has been solved. Yes, Rick from ADS is a good guy eventhough I haven't dealt directly..meaning I just click the order, check out, and pay. I am pretty sure that you will get your G100 once back in stock.
Happy detailing...oh... until spring time.........Unless..... You are a certified CAR CRAZY! like Jeff S. detailing his truck in the middle of winter.
P.s. Don't forget to post some picture of your projects...
                      until then...

Just to follow up on this, (sorry I get buried in e-mail and it' hard to always keep up), because we don't know the temperature or environment the products will be exposed to once they leave our warehouse or a distributor's ware house we can't really say definitively if there will be damage, or risk of damage due to extreme temperatures at either end of the scale.

We understand this is not an answer, but we can't control the weather and we've already done everything we can to create our products in the form they are in and the temperature extremes they can be exposed to have limits.

Tom and others have made the best recommendations and that is to either have them delivered to someone that will be home or a work address. The other good option is to have UPS hold them for pick-up.

Mike, Rick and I got the situation figured out. He is going to have UPS hold it at their warehouse until I can get down and pick them up. this will eliminate the chance of sitting outside for a day.

however, how do you in fact know if your products have been disrupted by the cold weather? is their a specific way to tell?

After shaking a product up, it should have a uniform appearance and consistency.
