Help! I finally got to see my finish today in bright ligth and there are millions of scratches all over the finish! Thought my finish was in good shape(2002 white impala) but I must be doing something incorrect, my question is, what should I do as far as not making it worse and how to keep my finish protected(wax) until after the New Year when I can order a DA polisher, example should I still clay car?
is there any point in using paint cleaners or polishes b/f waxing?
I do have an old black & decker polisher(1979-1980) but I have used it already with DC#1 so obviously that cannot take the scratches out, I do have a tube of scratch X but I cannot see doing the entire car, I have read posts' on this and sounds like that is not the way to go, effort is not worth the results. Am I correct or can these be removed by hand? As to how they got there I think either they have been there since I bought the car in 2003 or I am the one marring the finish, but how?
    current steps to clean vehicle:
    wash- nxt wash
    clay-
DC#1 with terry cotton applicater, remove with supreme shine MF
DC#2 megs foam app. remove with ss MF
gold class clear coat wax -megs foam remove with ss MF
    final wipe with ss MF
also do use QD often w/ terry towel(seems to remove eaiser than MF)
    Please Help!!
p.s. sorry I cannot post pics( no digitail camara) but you can't really see them unless in bright light, can't see even in sunlight unless you know what to look for

To get rid of the scratches, you will have to use either a hand-applied product (scratch-x) or a machine applied product (such as meguiars #80 or #83 with the g-100 polisher).

Quick detailing too often can lead to those millions of tiny scratches. I should know. I used to quick - detail my car every day for a few weeks during the summer. After that experience, I was left with swirls everywhere. So, be careful when choosing when to quick detail or when to do a full wash. It is sometimes best to just wait and do a full wash.

When using scratch-x, it is important to know how to use the product. That is, you should apply scratch-x to a small area, work it in real good for awhile using a clean applicator, then wiping the area with a clean microfiber towel. Repeat until you get the desired results.
