Just to make sure, are you sure there is no discoloration on the inside?

I just got some PlastX too. I was replacing an engine seal in my GF's Subaru the other day, and while taking a "break" I broke out the PlastX and rubbed half of one headlight which was very cloudy. It did make an improvement, but I think you need to put some devotion behind the plastX (push hard and rub in). I am going to do a full detail as soon as I determine that

there is no more oil leaking out Driveway all stained up makes me track oil in the house Whats going to remove the oil from driveway

*anyway...... the plastX worked. SHe came out and noticed right away where I had cleaned it.

Murr- im not sure....i will say this on one of the headlight it has a stain drip like something ate up the top layer something acid...but that is not what im trying to correct unless it can be but the remainder of the housing is yellowish...after i washed and clayed it felt smooth to the touch....so your probably right i just dont want to open it up (it my aunt vehicle) i need to take a pic to show how it looks maybe this weekend if i can pic up the dig camera...

Hannibal---yes i am aware of using some passion behind it like MIke P said....

i saw ADS have some small 3 1/2 pad for headlight housing to polish it...i was just wondering if any have tried that...any thoughts or suggestions are welcome...TIA

if its bad enough try wetsanding.

Start with 600, then move up to 1000, then 2000, then try plastix again.

The wetsanding should notonly make your surface once again opaque, but it makes the scratches small that Plastix has to break down.

I have used PlastX on headlights with my PC and a 4" Sonus SFX polishing pad. I haven't tried it on anything too neglected yet, but it seems to work fine, no problems I could see. If you got one, I'd give it a try.

              Hey,

If the lights are still quite yellow after using some passion with the PlastX, then the yellowing is most likely on the inside of the lens; not much can be done about that.

With that said, I have had great success using PlastX and the G100 with a W-9006 Finishing Pad on many many lenses if the outside of the lens is scratched or blurred.

I would avoid wet sanding any headlight. As I have mentioned on numerous occassions, some headlights have a protective coating. Sanding the lens will remove this coating, possibly leading to further deterioration of the lens. However, if the lenses are that bad that they need to be replaced anyway, that may be a different story.

I bought this RedBaron stuff from a website that included a 3 step process. The first was some chemical spray that removed the yellow. It worked pretty good. The 2nd was something similar to PlastX, but just did O.K. Lenses are better, but still needs improvement. I just ordered some PlastX so I'll be trying that next week. I'll see what the primary ingredient was in the yellow fix spray and post that. Oh. yeah, the kit also came with some 3" pads, so I'll be using those with the plastX also..
