  • 69 camarro RS

i havent seen my freinds dad's camarro but its supposed to be pretty bad i offered to try to fix the paint before he goes to gets it repainted
so if the paint was extremly horrific could i use a a paint cleaner(DC1 or scrachX) twice once before and once after clayins

    EX
    wash
    dc1
    clay
    wash
    dc1
    dc2
    NXT

or would i be better off just going with wash clay colourX

also does colourX have a paint cleaner in it ? im pretty sure it doesnt but i jsut want to confirm im low on $$$ bus i hate to see a dull looking camarro

If the car single stage, ColorX would work really well, especially if the paint is oxidized. Many times, with oxodized single stage paints, most of the defects are in the oxidation.
    I want 4" Softbuff pads!

Definately use ColorX or ScratchX. DC#1 is a good product, but very mild.

The main thing you want to do is see if progress can be made. Personaly, I would :

      1. Wash whole car.
      2. ScratchX Trunk, worked in well.
      3. Clay Trunk.
      4. Maybe ScratchX trunk again.
      4. ColorX trunk worked in well.

At some point in one of these steps, you should see improvement. If you see improvement, then branch out to the rest of the car.

If not, then not much will help.

Just do the trunk, no sense to do whole car if nothing improves it.

Just curious here. I assume you are doing all of this by hand??

That's my assumption as well. And frankly, if so I doubt you'll get much improvement. You really need to be working with a G100 or a rotary to cut heavy oxidation, especially on what I'm assuming to be an original single-stage finish from 1969.

Yes, it can be used with a G100. In fact, I would highly recommend it because it will help you to maximize your efficiency.

I wouldn't say "no reason" -- but you aren't going to get the same results. If a car doesn't need anything more than a mild treatment, by hand works fine. For extreme cases like the 69 you're describing, you will quickly find that you NEED to have a machine to work with.
