Oily Residue Left From GC Wax?

    Oily Residue Left From GC Wax?

    OK so I know that I read about this some where in some FAQ section but I can't seem to find it for the life of me... so forgive me for asking again!

    I decided to try Gold Class Clear Coat Car Wax for my black finish to see the difference between that and NXT today. So I washed the car, the paint was cleaned and polished a few weeks ago so I jumped right into waxing. As I was buffing it off I noticed that it was leaving an oily residue behind that I could not seem to get off. No matter how many new MF towels I used, it just seemd to push it around on the surface. Did I not let the product dry for long enough? Has any one else had anything like this happen? What steps can I take to get it off/prevent from happening in the future.

    I encountered that too. Solution is to use the MF bonnet with the D/A polisher to remove the wax. I didn't have any bonnets so I used a good quality MF towel under a W-7006 pad(red). It was effective. You may try letting it dry longer as I think that may help also.

      i think you'll find gold class wax is a Pure Polish which doesnt require a drying time as such. I find using a 100% cotton towel first is best as it has a deper nap and theni follow over with my meguiars microfibre towel.

        Gold Class wax is not a pure polish, it contains poilishing oils, but it does need time to setup just like any other wax.

          I use Gold Class on black all the time. You do need to let this product dry. You can let it set quite a while and it actually comes off easier. It will sometimes give you an oily sheen on the surface after you have taken the wax off. It's worst if you apply it over a pure polish like #7. Just leave it and it will evaporate off or go back with a quick detailer, even the next day and it will really shine. I love this product.

            Just perform the "swipe test" to see if the wax has set long enough before removing it.

              It is a great wax for black cars. I used it all the time on mine until NXt and now #21 came along!

                Ok so it sounds like this is a normal thing to have happen? I guess I just need to let it setup a little longer next time. I had let it sit for about 15 min. but it was pretty cold outside (60 deg. ish ), so I may have needed to let it sit for a half hour or so.

                Next time I will try using some quick detailer afterwards as well. Thanks for the input guys!
