  • winter wash products for coin op?

I am going to be placing an order for quite a few things mainly from the detailer line like hyper dressing, apc, and possibly a degreaser. But with that order I am going to through in a few things to go along with my winter wash routine since I live in md the hoses do freeze around here and when the temp is constantly below freezing they don't un freeze. I also ordered a car cover (weathershield Covercraft) as we all know youn cant put it on a dirty car. I mainly got it to keep the dew rain frost SNOW off of the paint. If snow gets on it all I have to do is take a broom and sweep it off not having to worry about the paint. Back to the washing I use a coin-op (only when my hose froze)but I try to use my Megs stuff when know one is around but I sometimes end up using their harsh stuff. I was thinking on ordering the 5sq foot natural chamois cause of its size would help me dry before freezing and since and follow up with one of my magnets. maybe a litle final inspection in there. Any advice on the chamois or suggest any more products for anything to use at the coin-op I will be making up a kit possibly with the new detailing cases When I place my order Ill try and post pics. Thanks Greg.

Well, I have only used the water magnets, so I cant speak for other drying towels.

However, I am sure you do what I do.. take along a bucket and some Nxt wash, fill it up with water ,wash with that, then rinse off. Maybe powerwash the wheelwells, underbody a bit.

Are you able to get any wax, or cleaner/wax applied at all?

I'm not a fan of real leather chamois anymore (used them for years until better stuff came along).

If you like the way a chamois works I'd recommend the X2070 Microfiber Super Suede Drying Towel. It works the way a chamois should work but without the hassles of natural animal hide.

I'd just use a couple Water Magnets myself.

Yes I try to completely detail up the car (83 or 80, 81, nxt) before it gets to harsh. Hence the car cover to help keep it that way. I wont be driving the car in rain anymore since my dad got a new truck I will be using his old one. But I do through on a coat of nxt when weather permits.

I happen to have one of these but it just isnt big enough I am going to need something with size since the power washers they wont allow to sheet the water too well and the car will be covered with water beads at least the one near my house. I was thinking the natural chamois cause of its sheer size. I would of course follow it up with a water magnet which I have two of my car holds alot of water when you cant sheet it off. I wanted to get it dry before it will freeze up or spot too bad. Thanks.

The benefit of a real chamois or the Super Suede Drying Towel isn't so much that they hold a lot more water as it is that they can be squeezed out and you keep using them. They aren't as effective as fresh cloth towels but cloth will load up and lose effectiveness while chamois-like-devices (chamois, SSDT, "the absorber", etc.) hit a steady state and keep going. In fact, with a natural chamois (unless its brand new) you need to soak it and squeeze it out before using it. Pro detailing suppliers sell wringers for them.

Your situation is that you need to get water off quickly in the cold. You could use a chamois or SSDT, squeezing often and following with a cloth towel for the light little drops/streaks it leaves (although I find those drops to be negligible if you'll be waxing or QDing immediately). That takes a bit of practice to do quickly but is doable.

A bigger stack of cloth towels would be fastest but requires more of a monetary investment and you'll be doing laundry more often.
