Try using scratch X. Apply with a foam or terry cloth applicator and work it in. Before it becomes dry, apply some more, work it in.

You might have to repeat this a few times. Just do a few applications, then wipe away with a microfiber towell. Hopefully, you'll remove those etchings.

Do a search here on MOL for "Egg" there are a few posts... As I read through some of them the end results varied. All had improved the damage.... but I didn't see anyone say they have completely removed the damage from an egg.

Crazy how an egg can do so much damage!?!?

I agree with LiquidBlack try some ScratchX then re-apply your wax.

I too have had this travesty happen to me. A couple of summers ago I washed my car(black Caddy CTS) in the afternoon and then went to play basketball with my brother(He drove to the park). When I came home I saw some white "stuff" on my car. I thought great, a bird pooped on my clean car. Nope, worse. My car was egged in broad daylight. It left a swirl pattern of tiny white dots. Through both the clearcoat and the black paint. Well I took my touchup paint and filled in as many of the white spots as I could. After it dried I used scratch x, cleaner wax, and 3 coats of wax. Looks better but not perfect. To this day I have to eighther wax or polish my car after a wash to hide the mark. If I do then the average Joe can't tell. But I always can. My advise is that if you don't get it repainted then wax it or polish your car as much as possible to conceal it. My 2 cents.

I've been the victim of egging also , as have been some of my clients. All of the prior advice is what i've done with variable results. I've used the dealer bought touch-up paint & with multiple applications I've managed to conceal the point of impact which is what breaks the clearcoat thus leaving it's evil mark.joe

thank you all for your immediate response and advice -- funny i have been pondering whether or not to try scratchx -- up until now my suv paint has remained new looking and flawless -- i guess this is the wax-gods way of forcing me to use scratchx -- it's raining today so i will start on it tomorrow -- btw -- do i washdrycleanerwaxscratchxpolishnxt21 -- or do i washdryscratchxcleanerwaxpolishnxt21 --

I would scratchx then DC#1. That way you start off with mild abrasion and go to the chemical cleaning agents of the DC#1 to really get the grim off. IMHO scratchx is not a good paint cleaner.

I found out something today: I was using GC tar&bug remover on my lower quarter panels to get ready for a DA polishing this weekend. I used it liberally with a rag, let soak, rubbed off. the wiped the haze to a shine. I think it cleaned my paint very very nicely. ALthough my paint is in good shape to start, I thought it really left it squeaky clean. You have to rewax after GC T&B cleaner. so I am just going to wait untill I get the time to doa full detail. I just thought if you had some GC Tar&Bug Remover, it wouldnt hurt to try it.

Man, I cross my fingers that I dont get bombed. I do get the idiot door dings which really upset me. I feel your pain

              Good luck
