  • Best winter "topper" #16 or NXT?

I did a search, but don't have the patience to read all 380 threads. I applied NXT liquid Tech Wax last weekend with a pc. I'm going to top it this weekend.

Which would be the better "topper" for winter in Nebraska -- a second coat of NXT paste by hand or coat of #16 by hand?

#16 was my choice of wax in 70's and 80's but in my opinion NXT is a heck of a lot eaiser to use. Easy is good when you are over 60.

NXT ! Those synthetic polymers will just keep bonding & bonding. Ever notice how much more reflectivity occurs a day or two later? Ya' gotta luv it !

my vote as a topper is #16
it has no cleaners and will lock in the look of nxt but add durability
      just my .02

good luck in deciding on which one

if you have some before and after pics that would be sweet to post.....

just a suggestion you should try #21 first,20, and so forth these are sealants and there durability last longer...

        just a thought....

I use NXT as a "base" and top that with #16, best of both worlds.

            kinda off topic
but i like using CG for my winter wax because it seems to last way longer than NXT
            but just to confirm
i can use 2 coats of GC with 24 hours between them right?

Twenty four hours between coatrs of GC should be just fine.

Decided to use NXT liquid as a "topper" and applied it with my pc. The Hemi is just too much truck for this old guy to do by hand. I never did think that #16 was an "easy" wax and its formula is the same as it was 25 years ago. I'll save the #16 for my Harleys.

I agree that the synthetics & polymers will outlast carnauba.

Funny how nature created a waxy coating to protect the palm tree in the harshest of climates, but it doesn't seem to last very long on paint...
It's still tough to beat carnauba in terms of clarity and shine.

Paint prep prior to waxing is the best way to prolong the life of any last step product you choose to apply. Utilizing clay, cleaners, and polishes ensure lasting wax protection!

Natural carnuaba is like cement, it has to be processed and blended with oils and often bees wax and paraffin waxes etc (weakened) so it can even be used at all on cars.

ya #26 is great it will last for ever but i cant say if its better than #16 because i never tried it. the pain about #26 is it stains some of my mfs but i guess its worth it

                            Tom,

I would go with another coat of NXT.

This time of year I usually give my own vehicles a coat of NXT about once a week for the next few weeks. That way I know there's plenty of protection to carry through the winter.
