Anyone have any tips on removing letters.

I have a trailer to do and the owner wants the vinyl advertising letters removed...three sides. They are on polished aluminum, so scratching will be an issue. I have had success with heat (hair dryer) but am trying to see if there are any better ways.

We remove them all the time at work and we use a heat gun. Gets to be a long job, little by little they come off. Finnaly after some burned fingers and 4 letter words they are off!

There has to be an easier way!

3M makes a stripe removing wheel that works pretty good. It is an eraser you put in a drill. I just remove decals from a police car with one and it worked very good.

well direct sunlight softens it up the best if it hasnt been on too long or the hairdryer, but were done with the sun here.

they sell cans of woodgrain and stripe remover at NAPA. I heard thats the best alternative way.

I finished a police cruiser off the other night. I had to remove decals and scothlight from 2/3 of a '01 Ford Expedition. What a job. The decals came off pretty easy. The scotchlite wasn't even phased by the heatgun. I used 4 eraser wheels and about 6hrs to remove the scotchlite. That stuff is tuff.
