  • ???Car Cover???

I am seriously interested in purchasing a car cover. I saw in one of the megs catalogs a few months back that they were selling covercraft covers. I lookwd around the website and didnt se anything. If anyone can give me some info on this I would appreciate it.

Also does anyone have any experience with the weathershield cover from covercraft. If i go for it this would probably be the one i will go for. Is it an issue to cover the car if it is slighlty dirty/dusty or does it have to be relatively clean? any info would be great thanks.

Ps: any good distributers of covercraft would be helpful

I can't say I have seen it on the website either. I am pretty sure I saw them in the back of one of the catalogs. I am at work now and don't have it with me. But when I get home I'll try to remember to look it up and post whateve I can. I am sure you can call Customer Service as well. They might even be able to E-Mial you some product specific info.

im actually interested in a car cover too... covercraft makes good ones? i'd want it to be "weatherproof". i only have rare access to a garage, and it seems like the combination of a little dust and nightly dew makes a mess quicker than i'd like.

I had considered a car cover. I decided against it. For me, I would not want to put a cover on it unless I knew the finish was absolutely clean and had just been QDed at the minimum. My vehicle is the only one I have and is ungaraged. So I know I would end up getting lazy one day and throw the cover over a finish that isn't as clean as I would like. Once I do that I will have lost all faith in the car cover as I will suspect it might have dust on its inside surface.

My goal is to build me a gargage ASAP.

wow you don't keep that beauty garaged?! i never would have thought...

do you get lots of night/morning dew where you are? any way in particular you deal with it?

i notice one of two things happens; either the dew settles on top of light dust on the truck and makes it dirtier, or the dew runs off in droplets and leaves little water marks from where it dries (this happens if i jump in my truck early in the morning and drive off with the dew still on my truck... it rolls off and creates the droplets.)

I'm sorry you were unable to locate any information regarding the Weathershield Car Cover. Just to be clear, we actually do still sell Covercraft Car Covers (including the Weathershield). I hope the following is helpful.

The basic difference between a Weathershield and other covers is the technology behind it. It uses heat and pressure to permanently encapsulate the fibers of the fabric, allowing it to shed moisture, and block dust, dirt, bird droppings, tree sap and grime. It is:

Weatherproof - Fabric sheds water as soon as it hits the cover.
Breathable - Allows any heat or condensation under the cover to easily escape.
Dust-proof - prevents dust from filtering through the fabric.
Scratch-less - Polymers provide a silky smooth finish to the fabric and provide superior paint protection.
UV Resistant - Special additives prevent UV degradation and protect the vehicles finish and interior.
Durable - The protective quality of the Weathershield is not affected by heat or cold and won't degrade over the life of the fabric.
Has Superior Dry Time - Because the fabric sheds moisture it has an absorption factor of only 2%, compared with up to 40% for standard woven and non-woven fabrics. (That means, if the cover has been sitting out in the rain you only need to shake it and the residue moisture will easily dry, in the trunk or on the car.)
Easy to Care For - you can clean WeatherShield covers in your home washer and dryer.

Is it an issue to cover the car if it is slighlty dirty/dusty or does it have to be relatively clean?
For the best performance, it is recommended that you remove any fresh contaminants before covering your vehicle.
