Our final Saturday Class of 2013.....
Our demo car for the day: that paint isn't as nice as it looks in this shot.

When we put a light on it you can see a lot of defects in the paint.

Pull it out into direct sunlight and the true horror shows itself! This is a rental car, and the rental car washing machine has taken its toll on the paint.

First off, a bit of clay.

Most of the students have used clay so we had the few who were new to the process finish off the hood.

A nice, smooth surface...... full of horrible swirls!

Taped off for the demo. We'll be using traditional foam on the left side and the DAMF System on the right.

W8207 polishing pad and Ultimate Compound for the first step. We followed with W9207 finishing pad and Ultimate Polish.

The DMC5 microfiber pad primed and ready for defect removal.

Slaying swirls with D300!

Out in the sunlight the results of our two test spots: on the left is Ultimate Compound/Ultimate Polish, on the right is just D300. There is no wax anywhere at the moment, just a complete absence of swirls in the test spots.

Time to finish off the hood, and put the DA into the hands of the students.

A big thank you to everyone who came to this class, and all the classes throughout the year. We'll be back in 2014 with plenty more opportunities to learn the art of paint polishing!
