  • My Garage Makeover....

    Hey all,
Finally decided to give the garage a good makeover, it was in need and I finally decided to tackle it.

My steps were, Painted the ceiling, repaired the cracks and nicks in the walls, stripped the floor and used an epoxy on the floor.

I still am letting the epoxy cure before dragging everything back inside. Let me know what you think.

Makes a big visual difference, doesn't it? How much of that epoxy did you have to use to get the floor the way it is?
See the big picture, enjoy the details

Incredible sir. I love the floor. How much did the whole project cost?

            Thanks guys,

Took about 3 Gallons for 2 coats. I actually used Muriatic Acid for the first time to etch the floor and strip off the old floor coating. WOW, that's some powerful stuff. I used rubber boots, gloves, a respirator and safety glasses! I had to go back and neutralize it with Baking soda and water, before using another cleaner on it.

I also used a waterproof/primer on the floor after I had cleaned it to make sure the epoxy had a good base. I am happy with results. Now if it can just stay that way....

Liquidblack, I'm guessing here, but several trips to Lowes and I would guess 350 bucks by the time you add up everything I used. Took more time than anything due to only really having the weekends to work on it. That and having to shuffle everything around all the time. Wife is getting ansy to put her car back in the garage!

Looks great! I have been going to epoxy my floor for sometime now, just have not done it. Give a garage a clean look.

What kind of epoxy did you use?

I think the question everyone wants answered is, "What did you do with all the stuff that was in there before?" 8-)

Details2 - Yup, lefties, I am right handed but play golf left handed for some odd reason... That's a good eye!!!

Brian - LOL, well, unfortunately I wasn't able to pitch everything, my 5 year old would have a fit! It was outside still, seeing I had to pack everything outside the day before. Wife kept remarking with all that stuff and the fridge in the driveway we looked like the Clampeds! :

It's back now, now I just have to put it all away! I just wanted to see what the garage would look like not all cluttered

Don't let your family be packrats

For some odd reason, my mom keeps EVERYTHING she does need in the garage. Even broken beyond repair stuff. Stuff that should be thrown out/trashed. So, every once in awhile I'll just be walking by, spot something, and toss it in the garbage.

Not that my efforts do anything. Guys, I'm serious, the stuff in the garage piles up to a pile that is as tall as I am.

THAT is how much of a pack rat my mom is.
