  • What I observed at a car dealer.

What a experience. After learning a wealth of knowlege on this forum I went to a friend that has a car lot. In the detail bay was Auto Magic stuff. Plus a rotary. No Megs. Next I walked the lot. Nearly every car had DISO!!! Methinks I will ask for my next car not to be "detailed" by them.

I know exactly what you mean Kelly. I recently purchased a used vehicle from a dealership and I asked them to not even to bother detailing it since I knew they wouldn't even bother with claying it, much less having them install MORE DISO!

A couple years back I saw a brand new car at a dealer proudly displayed up one one of those rotating displays outside where everyone can see it.... covered in DISO bad! all the marks were reflecting in the sun as it rotated!?!?

I guess you could really say that it's more like standard equipment.

I was at the dealership today. Paid $27 for an oil change, and it took them 15 minutes longer than the time promissed.

Not that it really maters. When I brought it in they asked me if I wanted my car washed and I said, no. They asked why and I said, you guys leave it wet and it spots.

When picking my car up, I looked over at some people washing a car. They were using what looked like a push broom. I asked the service representative what why they use a push broom and he said, it is very fast and effective, the bristles are very soft, and they can clean the entire car tires to roof with it.

I took my old MB into a carwash about 6 weeks ago, to a place I hadn't been before, and as they pulled my car around into the line I saw them pull out one of those "soft bristled" brooms out of a 55 gallon plastic barrel and scrub the front end of a car that was two infront of mine. They were just dipping the broom back in the same water after they had scrubbed each vehicle!!! I couldn't believe it!

I walked back out into the line and told them if that brush touches my car, they'll be be refinishing the entire front half of that car! The Customer service asked me why I don't want that done and I replied that I don't want dirt from other cars re-applied to my car and that their technique by doing that was not good, and that they should at least have another barrel of clean water to rinse that broom. Needless to say, I haven't been back.

If you should happen to be drive down my street while I’m washing my truck you will probably see me using what looks like a push broom. I can assure you (In my case anyway) it's not. It’s a boar’s hair car wash brush.

But even if the dealer was using a bhb can they say:
that It’s a two-bucket wash with Meguiar’s Gold Class Shampoo?
that the brush never touches the wheels or undercarriage?
that the brush never touches the floor?
that it’s only being lightly wiped along the finish, not scrubbed?
that the brush is constantly inspected and would be replaced instantly if it were found to be warn or damaged?

                    PC.

GET THIS. It is against the LAW to wash your car in Calgary Alberta using soap. You can only rinse your car off. You have to go down to the local car wash to wash your car.

They have long push brooms attached to hoses and soap comes out of the end with the brissles. YOU should see some of the stuff on those so called cleaning brooms. Rocks. Grease, just plain nasty things. It would make you cry
I go in to these "car washes" [More like sand blasting rooms] with my Meguiars soap, two buckets and my ultra plush mitt and give the car a good washing the right way..
It's funny the looks and the comments I get from people, they can't beleive I wash my car this way. So all you Car crazy people out there do not come to Calgary with a dirty car.

How do they enforce that? Do they have car wash police with binoculars so they can spot the car wash soap contraband? I suppose they have night vision goggles for the OCDs who wash their cars in the evening.

Looks like it wouldn't matter as long as you wash your car in the grass.....That would take care of the runoff.

Canada doesn't have a large population compared to the US.....I wonder what made the government/province enact such laws?

I would just wash my cars anyway and tell anyone who wants to enforce it I will see them in court with a lawyer.

A few years ago I got a note from the Gargabe Collection company telling me I was caught throwing away a #3 plastic container that should be recycled and that if I have any further infractions I will be fined $100 for the first, $200 for the second, and $300 for the third. Couldn't belive they gave me a written warning. It was hillarious. It wasn't long and someone threw the lid of a can in the garbage not the recycling and we got a $100 fine.

It further explained that the gargage company only gets to keep half the fine and that the other half goes to the City.

I went to court and the Gargabe Collection Company did not show. I did not have to pay the $100 and they haven't bothered me since.
