I know what you mean. We are "supposed" to start building a garage (my new detail shop ) in a couple months, see how that one goes.

Here a some supplies on the floor (the tupperware tub, buckets that have stuff in them, royal purple box, and the G100+accessories in the duffel bag)-

    And "The Shelf"-

Plus the duffel bag with stuff in the trunk of my Roush, and the new 5-Pack of SS MFs, and the huge pile of dirty towels/apps that I need to wash, all in my room.

Don't get too depressed. My wife makes me keep all my stuff in a cardboard box.

My Garage would appal you. I have this little tiny area to store all my stuff in plastic crates and cardboard boxes, but from the wall and on the big shelves are live plants that she waters each day.

I can't use a shelf in the garage because "It is too much clutter" and she does not want me to keep a bunch of chemicals. I cannot have any ant spray, I am allowed to keep only enough oil on hand to change one car's oil. Good thing she doesn't know a car doesn't take 12 quarts. I am allowed 1 can of WD-40, 2 1 gallon containers of Gasoline (one for 2-Stroke), and my tools have to fit in a fold able plastic container.

I do have one cabinet I can use. The other cabinets contain plant food, books, and DVDs, and other organized things.

I really need to get you guys a picture of things. You will see it is my wife who is in charge at home not me.

I`m also looking forward for a new solution. I have a garage and also a open shelf, but the maint problem here is, that the house is really really old and in the "non-living" areas, like garages etc there are walls made with bricks. Depending on the old age, these bricks break and dirt fells off the wall. So my open shelf is in some parts splattered with small dirt. Problem is: I use the shelf also to storage my towels, water magnet, wash mit etc - so they always get dirty with small parts of bricks... I think I have to buy a closed shelf to solve this problem.

Mainly, I did a nice organize work a few weeks ago. I used a P-touch label maschine and printed labels for each "product group", like "tires and wheels", "glass" or "polishes / waxes" and sticked it onto the edges of the shelf, so me or my dad or girlfriend can find any product they need! ;-) also it makes a professional look! My different applicator pads are stored in a few ziplock bags which I bought years ago during a florida trip (never saw this until that time here in germany! lol)

Dang, RedSoxRacer beat me to it. Man, here in the "the OC" (nobody who lives here actually calls it that) it seems like you can't walk 20 feet without tripping over some plastic surgeon.

Anyway, wire shelving (like you see in the Meguiar's garage) is very common for storage in the industrial, food service, semiconductor and healthcare sectors. It comes in a lot of sizes and finishes. If you buy them from a "good old made in USA" industrial manufacturer you'll find a huge selection and high quality at a fairly hefty cost. Off shore manufacturers are now making the most popular sizes, smaller sizes and simpler finishes at very low prices with pretty good quality.

Any industrial storage supplier is likely to have a wide variety available. Some industrial suppliers sell used stuff too (if you don't mind heavily used). Many hardware stores and home centers carry some type/style.

I have a bunch of chrome wire shelving (4'Wx6'Hx18"D and 3'Wx6'Hx18"D) and folding top storage bins I got at Costco.

You like to keep about 10 galons of everything around hugh?

Geeze and I thought I was bad.

I saw one like this one at Pepboys but I'm sure you could just go to a home depot and find a good one there.

I saw one at Pepboys that looked like the metal frame with wooden shelves pictured previously. But I'm sure you could just go to a home depot and find a good one there.
