  • Help! Do I Buy Another Car? Yes Or No?

I am sick, I have a fever, a car crazy, gear headed, grease monkey fever.

Two houses away from me parked inthe street is this 63 glaxie for sale! Asking $2000.

What I love about it is that it is completely untouched, worn yes but untouched. It isn't primered, hot rodded or micky moused in any way.

It wears the orig paint that has worn away in some areas. The rust you see is very light surface rust.

The interior is trashed and needs a redo.

I am thinking low dollar custom/rat rod project with this one.

    What do you think?

If it were me I would pass on that one. Too far gone for me. You could really transform it though. Would you repaint it yourself? Or do you know a good custom painter?

No, you need a 70's model to round out your collection Joe.

I am a cutom painter, ASE cert refinisher at that.

I wouldn't paint all of it. I can blend new paint over the rust areas. After an old school rub out it will be hard to see the blends. Then I would "mexican blanket" the seats and lower the car some more. The black walls will be replaced with white walls.

A little nxt metal polish on the chrome and stainless and we're rolling!

Can you get fender skirts for the rear?

Does this have the 390 in it?

Personally, I think you should buy it and transform it. But I have a feeling that it will not be a low dollar custom for long!

fender skirts are easy for this one. The owners son doesn't even know if there is a 6 or 8 in it.

Most common would be a 289 for 63, I think!

One 6 cyl was offered with no less than six different V8s wow!

                  Typical Mike Phillips!

Question is: Do you have the time, space, and cash flow? If so:

                  Go for it Joe!

I think it is begging for a 'makeover'. Great candidate! Make it a Cuban Ride!??

And we'll get to watch the transformation, right?

                    Time? maybe.

                    Space?
Lets see -- the 46 plymouth and 88 Ford are over here-

The buick riviera is under the canopy -

Wifes honda and trailer are over on this side --

And the cadi and the 57 chevy sleep int he garage -

AWWW Heck I can make room for here. Money is no problem buying it. It is going to be allthe $$$ I waste putting in to her that is gonna get me!

I am going to offer $1500 and see what happens.

Sweet!! The owners son called me a few minutes ago. He must of kept my number on caller ID.

Anyway I told him he wanted too much (for me anyway) price is $2500 not $2000 like I thought.

                        I is a 6cyl , 4 speed on the tree.

I fhe still has it in a few days I will hit him up for $1500.

IMHO, that thing is just beggin to have the top chopped off about 3-4 inches! and lowered about 2 inches.

what you have to think, is that if you dont buy Joe it'll be one more classic that dissappears( dont think i spelt that right) onto the scrap heap

                              YES!!

My mom's fiance (of about ten years ) bought a '63 with the 427 and a 4 spd on the floor!! Not the original 427 but a conversion from the 390. Paid $8k and had to do the interior, all new springs, and various other projects. But I guess that cars in that kind of condition are available quite a bit more there than they are in Ohio!

                              Big fan of big cars!

I like Mike's idea of making it a roadster!
