I think my friend is going to try the wide packing tape idea, except that he's going to attach the tape to a piece of cardboard and somehow affix the cardboard on the hood.

I'll keep us informed about whether this works or not.

My friend said that the cat tried to walk on the SUV again, except this time, the cat must have got all tangled up in the tape, since part of it was missing.

He hasn't seen the cat lately, so maybe it worked.

Awesome. It has always worked for me in the past.
If a man talks in a forest, and there is no woman there to hear him, .... is he still wrong?

I might give it a try myself.

magnus sounds like he had some good ideas too. however my neighbors all ready think I'm crazy when it comes to my vehicles. they see me circling my vehicles with peppers and they'll think I'm doing some bizzare satanic ceremony...

Sorry, I forgot to post the ritualistic chant that goes along with my previous entry…

An alternative to putting those items around your car would be to put them around the perimeter of your yard. Wouldn't hurt to try.

The original purpose of these items (at least how I came to know of them) is for gardening purposes. Put these items around specific plants, beds, or entire yard to keep critters out.

The solution I've used in the past is to first put a heavy blanket on the hood to protect the paint.

Now, put numerous mousetraps on the blanket and cover them carefully with newspaper.

Wait for the fun to begin.

Cat jumps on hood, mousetraps fire, newspaper keeps paws from getting caught in the traps and cat hauls buns away from vehicle.

Lather, rinse, repeat a few times and the word gets around and the cats stay away.
