  • Need Help With Cats

    Hi All,

Does anybody have any good ideas on how to deal with cats walking on the hood of a vehicle?

I guess a BB gun would help if a person could get a good shot without hitting the car.

I'm posting this for a friend.

Lay some packing tape sticky side up on your hood after you park your car. They will learn really quick.

      Try some of these:
They may not be practical, as they are meant for yard and garden use.
      • Put grated orange peels around your car.
Cats do not like the smell of moth ball crystals/flakes.
Sprinkle ground black pepper or hot cayenne pepper.
Cats do not like dried rue leaves.
Dry Borax soap is another alternative.

How about a rotweiler chained to the bumper?

He used to have a big inflatable plastic snake on the hood, which worked for a while.

I didn't know this when I arrived to do the detail job.......Never the less, I froze in my tracks for a second or two until I realized it was a fake snake.

He lives near the woods and has had a few snake problems in the past.

Buy a small can of fish, we have sardines in Australia.

Stab a few holes into the top of the can.

Put the can in the hot sun for a few days.

Open the can to expose the now toxic fish.

Leave out for the cat to feast on.

                    Cat gone.

                        I found this on Google.

                        Has anybody tried it?

I bought a can of the deer and large animal repellent two weeks ago to help with a raccoon problem. My Dalmatian solved the problem before I could use the stuff! I bought it at my local Ace Hardware store so you may want to check there.

One of my co-workers had trouble with raccoons and used fox urine to repel them. She said it was extremely effective. I don't remember the particular product but the principle is the same.

I would say the Shake Away is worth a try! You may also want to check out the Cat Stop. The link is in the lower right hand corner of the page that RB linked to.

I had a cat problem in my old neighborhood.. both the neighbors cat and mine!

I borrowed a pressurized water fire extinguisher from the Sate Fire Academy. When the cats would be on the cars, I wiuld give them a burst from the extinguisher. They learned that getting on the car would get them wet!

I got a hose/nozzle assembly from a junked extinguisher and would point it out the front door if I saw the cats near the cars. They stayed away!

I won't tell you what I would do. It would be a felony in some states. I don't hate cats, but I won't put up with them getting on my vehicles. Two of my vehicles have scars from daring cats who are no longer with us.
