    Not sure where I was supposed to post this video. I am not even sure if this is detailing. I guess it is body shop work, but he's not in a shop.

    I think this guy is looking for work. Let me know if you hire him. I'm gonna open a shop in your town.

    Well, let's not be too hard on the guy. After all, like he said, he really had nothing to lose by trying this experiment since the door really needs to be repainted anyway. His basic theory isn't too far off, and he did make the door and mirror look better when he was done. Certainly in person and up close there are going to be issues with this - orange peel, less than uniform coverage, lack of clarity, etc - but the peeling clear is gone (at least for a while) and when everything is said and done, the owner is reasonably happy given the improvement made for just a $10 investment. We've seen people do far, far worse things to much newer, more valuable cars.

    While we certainly wouldn't recommend this for the vast majority of situations, but if the owner is happy with it that's really all that matters.


    By the way, we've moved this to The Break Room since it's really not Detailing 101 material.
