I may be wrong but I would think the death of the person that caused the death of thousands of Americans is pretty big news...not politics.

I had a very visceral reaction to your comment. First I reread the forum rules. Actually read them for the first time as I didn't feel I would ever violate any typical forum rule, so why read them.

Next, I went to dictionary dot com and looked at the definition of "politics".

Then I went to the "Sydney Morning Herald" to understand how the folks at Sydney might be feeling today. The headline looked just like every other headline today, "Osama Bin Laden DEAD".

You are right. So in keeping within forum rules, I will make my comment as "apolitical" as possible.

A soul was lost at sea today and I feel no remorse. All I can do is hope all the pain and suffering that soul caused throughout the world also ends today.

While it is true that we don't allow political discussions on MOL, we'll let this thread stand as long as the discussion does not turn into a debate about:

• which administration did what in the whole process
• why US troops are deployed in Afghanistan or anywhere else in the world
• the role religion played in anything having to do with any terrorist act, any where, any time
• anything that borders on a real political or religious topic

Yes, we realize that the above doesn't leave much other than the opportunity to say you're glad he's gone, or to give our service men and women a pat on the back for a successful operation. We will shut this down very quickly if any of the above are violated.

Well, I'm just glad he finally cashed in his chips. I did read that the U.S. suspects that one of his adult sons was killed in the raid as well - I'm sure if this is the case, it will be confirmed in the next couple of days. So proud of our men and women in the military right now!

dont see how the world is safer now. does anyone not think his followers wont go for revenge? and revenge is usually alot worse then act that caused the need for revenge. plus like Strife said "there will be another lunatic taking over,and they too will want revenge" our troops have done what they were sent over there for and that was to get Bin Laden and take out Al Quida over there now it is time to bring them ALL home before things gets any worse for them. my baby sister is there and suppose to be coming home within next month but i am sure after all this her and everyone else is gonna be made to stay to control the situation.

When I heard that they recieved intel on his whereabouts last August I kept thinking of the details I did that month... weird.

Anyways, glad to see no American troops or citizens were killed in this ordeal. Justice is served & hopefully the families of the victims from 9/11 will find some closure.

Turned out he was not hiding in the caves all that time after all.

Watching it on TV last night, with Rivera reporting it, it seemed he like he had been waiting to report this story whenever it happened. He was like a kid in a candy store. Hats off to everyone involved in this hunt and dispatch.
