  • Hey don´t steal my Meguiars stuff TSA!

    Hey folks!

Had three wonderful weeks in the USA with some friends and went back to Sweden yesterday.

And I bought a lot of Meguiars products on Auto Zone and Walmart. But when we took the airplane from Las Vegas to Orlando to spend the last days in Southern Florida my bag disappeared.
So I had to buy some new socks and t-shirts. But the bag was sent to our hotel day after. But when I opened it I find a notice from TSA that they had inspected my bag randomly, and on the notice it said that nothing was taken and everything was good!

But my big bag with car detailing products was gone. And I can´t really se why, last time i was in USA i carried one bottle of Absolut Vodka in my bag, and it should be more flammable than some pads and tire dressing I guess, and it was just ordinary bottles, no aerosols.

Anyhow the value of the products was about 30 dollar. So no big money, but some of these products are not possible to find in Europe. So it feels kind of sad for me

    Best regards Björn.

Maybe the TSA people needed some tire dressing and pads.........lol

I'm not really sure on that one.

At least you enjoyed the vacation though!

Have you contacted TSA or filed a complaint? If they said nothing was taken yet some items are indeed missing, you should say something to them about it. This is a long shot, but any chance you still have a receipt from the stores showing you bought these items? It might help with a claim.

Sorry for the unfortunate mishap and losing your product. This is all part of the safety initiative brought on by 9/11. Here this is directly from the TSA website and is most likely why you don't have your product anymore. There are rules stating how large a container can be and how many ounces it can hold.

TSA and our security partners conducted extensive explosives testing since August 10, 2006 and determined that liquids, aerosols and gels, in limited quantities, are safe to bring aboard an aircraft. The one bag limit per traveler limits the total amount each traveler can bring. Consolidating the bottles into one bag and X-raying them separately from the carry-on bag enables security officers to quickly clear the items.
3-1-1 for carry-ons = 3.4 ounce (100ml) bottle or less (by volume) ; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3.4 ounce (100ml) container size is a security measure.
Be prepared. Each time TSA searches a carry-on it slows down the line. Practicing 3-1-1 will ensure a faster and easier checkpoint experience.
3-1-1 is for short trips. If in doubt, put your liquids in checked luggage.
Declare larger liquids. Medications, baby formula and food, and breast milk are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint. Officers may need to open these items to conduct additional screening.

It is only for everyones safety.

Shawn T.: Add some boost to rims on their Ford SUV´s
I had three perfect weeks, I really enjoy visiting USA, clean, friendly people, nice climate

Michael Stoops: I have unfortunately not saved the receipt, so it would probably be hard to claim something.

Andy M.: I really appreciate the work USA and other countries do to make our world a safer place to live. But I can´t se why they took the Meguiars stuff when it was in my checked in luggage.
We have the same restriction about liquids in carry on luggage.

AllenB: I´am sure this could have happen everywhere. The TSA officers I meet at the airports where very friendly and professional.

So I think I have to order some Meguiars Stuff from detaling.com soon again, because I really have to clean my chrome rims

Sorry for my bad english, but the time is late in Sweden and I have work more than 10 hours today.

            Happy Easter!

            /Björn
