    Re: Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2011

Here are my pictures of the event!

First off, let's start with pictures of Meguiar's!!!

    Nice setup!

The shiny truck! Believe me when I say this is clean and glossy!!! It's easy to have dust accumulate in your paint's surface here in Phoenix but this truck didn't seem like it had any!

    2011 Products!!! WOOT!

    Wraptivo display

Some guy waiting in line to get to the auction stage using Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Detailer. I heard this guy say that after using this stuff (UQD), the car will look like a million dollars!

Too bad he has swirls on his paint...

Mr. Mike Stoops himself conducting the demo or should I say the "Stoops Show." Sorry Mike had to do it LOL!!!

Amazing work done by Mike. He used Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish and Ultimate Wax to achieve this.

      Ford Display:

      Ford Mustang Boss 302:

      Supercharged Mustang:

      Shelby GT500:

      Under the hood:

      C6 and C6 ZR1:

      AMV8:

      Bugatti Veyron:

Some boat powered by a Corvette LS7 engine!

Ferrari 458 with a ENV green badge... How can a high revving V8 engine be green LOL!!

Hennessy Camaro. Now I'm not sure if it has the real ZR1 engine.

      Hennessey GT-R:

      Another ZR1:

      Phantom with ugly rims:

Ferrari 458. Not a big fan of the rims.

Porsche 911 tuned by EVOMS. It has the EVT1500 package. Now that's what I want! A parachute in the car's rear end.

      Koneigsegg

      Range:

A highly modified Vette they called the ZR6:

      Ferrari 599:

      C6:

Sorry the pics aren't as good because there was too much people. It was hard to get a good shot.

These are very nice shots, Marc. Meguiar's should hire you as an official event reporter.

So you saw Mike in action with G110v2 and I must say that he can really perform some magic with a DA.

Thanks! I'd be happy to even volunteer for Meguiar's!!!

Yeah I did but I think it's better to attend one of the clinics in Meguiar's headquarters in Irvine, CA.

If you watched last night (Saturday), "The Boss" brought in a rather large pile of dollar bills. All for charity.

Bret Michael gave an interesting "gift" with the sale of his car. A life-time stage pass, not back stage, but ON stage pass for all Poison concerts. No doubt a treat for Poison fans.

Again all in the name of Juvenile Diabetes research.

Did you catch the Barry Meguiar segment? He spoke about the three kinds of Barrett-Jackson buyers.

                  Did they crush the double.....?

Using a fiber optic camera to look at the rust on name plate screws. That is due diligence for sure. Very interesting for those of us old enough to remember that day...weeks...months...years...

$450,000 wow! Glad it went to a good cause.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

                    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
                    Remove swirls my friends.

Mr. Stoops, if you return to this tread, the Kennedy ambulance was bought after the auction by a women. The curiosity is killing this cat! Who is she and where is her museum? Thanks.

Hope you had time to wonder and enjoy the B-J 40th, although I know you enjoy teaching!!

Sorry David, I have no clue about that. I was sitting in the audience when that car sold and they did do a ton of research on it and were very clear that the best they could say was "this very well could be the car, but you decide based on all the documentation and bid accordingly". It hammered at $120,000 and one has to believe that had there been no questions at all about it's authenticity it would have sold for several times that amount.

I've got some more images from the event that I'll be putting up tomorrow sometime - some good stuff, too!

                          Michael,

                          From my investigation...

                          Here's a quote from her:
"I like cars with impressive engines, but I'm into them more for the body and look. I like taking my time with the cars and getting to know them."

Does this sound like anyone you know? Like nearly everyone on MOL? I immediately thought of "I am the paint whisperer" Joe.

Interesting info on the buyer, David, but that sort of info isn't really disclosed to the public at the auction. The hammer comes down, the car rolls off and the next one comes up on the block. Unless you're sitting close to the buyer you often can't even see who made the buy.

Here's the last round of images from the event.....

The Kennedy Ambulance just prior to start of auction as it's history is being explained and investigation findings disclosed.

This was a real treat as we buffed out this car a few years back here at Meguiar's garage. It was just an empty shell at the time - no wood, no drive train, no interior. This car was on display in the lobby of Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas where Barrett-Jackson held their September auction last year. Here in Scottsdale it looked stunning on stage and hammered down at $150,000 - an amazing price actually!

Still sporting the Meguiar's decal in the back window!

And, finally, our rig after dark.

I am wondering if detailing pros and enthusiasts fight their inner conscience from offering their work for free just to fix the paints of rides displayed in car shows.
