So i have a couple of 318 small blocks at my house that are sitting not being used and my buddy and i found this pic of a V8 being used and preserved at the same time as a coffee table. Ours will be blue or orange to make it pop a little better though

Pretty sweet as long as you dont mind moving heavy furniture around.

I know a guy who used to build displays for Cummins and they would do a display engine out of fiberglass so it could be easily moved

Yep, easy to do and they look great! Just spot weld the pistons to the rods so they don't move around on you, and you'll be all set.

I am not sure about spot welding the pistons though i might use the again haha I might have a friend with a set of .40 over pistons that are bad i think they are out of round when his motor blew. Ill definately post pics too hopefully this weather litens up so i can start doing the small project
