    Re: Photo overkill

Joe with Superior Shine has brought this up before. Some of these posts are pretty ridiculous when it comes to photos. Nick does a great job of documenting a detail. However, I've seen other posts where there were 20+ pictures of swirl marks!! Yeah, we get it. There were lots of swirls on every square inch of the finish. Do you really have to take a picture of every square inch?!!! And we don't need 30+ reflection shots when you're done. I've seen this, too. One or two is fine, not 30+.

I don't care if you're brand new or a 100 year veteran, several pictures of your best shots are all that is really needed. 100+ picture writeups are just crazy.

        Re: Photo overkill

There are obviously many ways to post a thread on a detailing project, and while the saying is "a picture is worth a thousand words", it doesn't always tell the whole story. No, we don't really need 15 pictures of swirls on every panel of the car - a couple of the really bad ones will convey the message - but if there are some really nasty specific points it may be helpful to show them. A really bad bird dropping etch here, a nasty bumper to bumper scuff there, etc.

But what's more helpful to people new to this hobby is to know what products and process were used to correct these issues. Just showing a before and after may prove you did an outstanding job on the project, but it isn't necessarily helpful to those looking to learn. And here at Meguiar's we're all about teaching and helping people new to the hobby.

For the most part, you guys do an outstanding job at that!

I could stand 50 EXCELLENT photos. Usually, it's 47 horrid ones and three so - so.
