  • Good deals

I found some money-savers folks might be interested in.

ADS appears to have their gallon sizes of Mirror Glaze and Detailer Line products marked with sale prices, at least all the ones I looked at.

I'd been considering a stouter DA to augment my v1 PC that I'd like to just leave the 4" BP on and use the new machine with 5 or 6" BP for corrections. I'd been considering either the Meg's 110 v2 or Griot's Garage v2 6" DA. Both have been getting universally good reviews although I'd been leaning towards the GG at a better price point and Lifetime Warranty.

I ran across a thread pointing to an extremely low price on Amazon.com. The DA was supplied by a 3rd party vender so I sniffed out their Web site and discovered ToolTopia.com. I suspect those that buy a lot of tools have known about this place for a while as they've got a huge selection and the best prices on stuff I've seen anywhere. The GG DA was $97.99, well off the pace of most venders, even at sale prices. Free shipping with a $99 order so I added a 2-pack of Meg's foam applicator pads for $2.09 and still saved 5 bucks and got a couple of pads I can always use. Based in Louisiana, the place appears to have shipping points all over the country. I ordered yesterday afternoon and received a shipping notice today that indicated it had shipped out of MD and FedEx will be dropping it off tomorrow. Sweet! Low price, quick ship and FedEx instead of the slow-as-molasses brown truck. Doesn't get much better than that.

Browsing the ToolTopia site I found they carry a variety of body shop products in addition to tools, many of interest to detailers. While they don't carry a full line of Megs products I saw M105/205 and HyperDressing gallons at prices even below ADS' current sale prices! I ran down the list of manufacturers and saw several other names that would be of interest to detailers.

Might be worth a look. I dropped Customer Service a line encouraging them to expand their Meg's and other detailing offerings. At their prices and what appears to be excellent service they could quickly become a go-to vendor.

Usual disclaimers, no personal interest, yada, yada, yada...

Thanks, TL. That's an amazing price on the GG. You'll love it. I purchased one a few months ago. I, too, was stepping up from the PC v1. Night and day difference.

So I hear. FedEx just dropped it off. 36 hours from order to delivery! And NO stinking packing peanuts! Packing paper and good packaging. Life is good.

And UPS just backed in with my steamer! YIPPEE!

Drat, my vehicles are clean and shiney without defects, the bikes are clean and shiney. Think I'll run out and hijack a neighbor's beater and have some fun.

Are you saying you dislike packing peanuts? If so, why?

On Topic: I think we will see quite a few sales now that fall is officially here in the northern hemisphere.

They're static-y and stick to everything.. arms, hands, boxes, whatever's in the boxes. There's no way to get them from a box to the garbage or a storage bag without getting 'em all over the place. Yeah, some shippers seem to have anti-static packing peanuts and they're handy to keep a bagful for packaging other stuff. I usually tear into goodies in the garage. If the door's open with the slightest breeze I find myself chasing stray peanuts all over the place. When possible I specify packing paper or air pillows. Just one of my peeves.

I'm pretty sure in the event of nuclear holocaust the only thing that will remain will be Twinkies, cockroaches and packing peanuts.

That made my day... and add me to the list of those that hate packing peanuts. They take up soooo much space when being trashed and I can't recycle them.

They sometimes serve as a good snack. I'm not kidding, some of them aer made from corn oil I believe and are edible. My friend and I experimented by eating like a 50 each and I'm still alive. Yeah, not one of my most brilliant or profound ideas.

Ssssshhh the movie is about to begin.

I'm not sure if all peanuts are the same, but the ones I use read as though they are environmentally friendly compared to alternative packaging products.

Don't worry Cooper, they're non toxic, but so is bubble gum and hair. lol.
