Just to let everybody know, Autogeek.net is offering some truly awesome deals on all Meguiar's products! Great time to stock up! Their advice: stock up now.
I got an email with the same info in it this afternoon. The other part of this deal you didn't mention is that by using code JULY4, shipping is free on orders over $95. Thinking I might have to place an order in the next day or two after I get a chance to go home and take a look at the inventory.
_Only_ thing I have against AG is pushing "we will meet or beat anyone's prices"... anyone's except Amazon, Ebay, any auction sites, any closeouts, any clearance items, BOGO items, and few others. Other then that... they will match prices. They really should not push the statement as hard as they do... since it's incorrect.

AutoGeek is offering some great prices on Meguiar's products right now. I hope, though, that we will all continue to support the little guys, like Auto Detailing Solutions. It would be a great shame to see them all run out of business by the "Walmart" of the detailing industry.

Yeah, I just can't seem to not order from Rick (ADS), his service and willingness to do what he can for you is just hard to come across these days. He as turned me down a couple of times on price matching but he tries to make up for it somewhere. I understand how tight his margins must be.
I just received a decent size order from him....... and I could have ordered from AG and saved about $18.00 plus another 3pk of Supreme Shine microfibers, but went with Rick anyway. I always say next time I'm going with whoever has the best price but I never do.
Quite frankly, I go with the best price I can get and free shipping can certainly help. I've ordered from AG, ADS but also from detailing.com. Check out their price on D155... its hard to beat their daily price (i.e. $6 cheaper then most other places). Most of their other prices are a little lower as well.
While I have price matched (useful when two different websites have lower prices on different items I want) I try to shop at the site that give the best all around prices. Nothing against any company but I see a company that pushes their price matching policy as a company who _knows_ their prices are high and does not want to lose business to the company that has better prices. But they still want to make a buck off the people who don't shop around for a better price. No... I'd rather give my money to the company willing to give a good price to their customers in return for better repeat business. If I price match some places else, it just puts that lower price company out of business.

This is a very interesting, thoughtful and considerate perspective.
I've just recently opened a Canadian Meguiar's online store and I struggled on how I could offer consumers what they want. Being this is a hobby business for me, my goal is to offer the best price possible, profit isn't the motivator.
Free shipping on $X amount orders is the thing I find most difficult. I personally chose not to offer it, because I kind of feel like it is bullying the customer into placing an order larger than they want to. Somebody has to pay for the shipping, so it's normally built into the price of the product. I could offer it on orders over $150 but then I'd have to raise my prices 5-10% to cover the cost. Now for example if you only order $100 worth of product, you're paying an extra $5-$10, plus you have to pay for shipping. That doesn't seem fair.
I think you should get what you pay for. No smoke and mirrors. Sometimes you just need a couple of items.
Regarding the price matching policy. It's pretty tough to keep an eye on 1000's of product SKU's. There is software that can scan competitors prices (similar to Pricebot) and adjust your prices accordingly. However, you'd end up out of business because some companies offer loss leaders, or they buy one item in bulk.
It's a tough game for the consumer as well as the business. ADS seems to be the U.S. company that offers the best value. Rick never fails to impress with his customer service.
My formula for value is:
VALUE = (QUALITY + SERVICE) - PRICE
If a good company falls short in one area once in a while, you still end up with value overall.
If it's like the free shipping the sale ends on Monday.
I usually order from Rick too. Not just because of price. His service and packing of orders is hard to beat. I've ordered around $600 of stuff from in the last year but only $75 from AutoGeek. Definitely planning to order more from each as I want to try some of the products Rick doesn't carry. I would be taking advantage of this sale but I ordered some tools from Snap On the other day so the deatiling budget is taking a little hit this month.
