As you may have seen on the Speed Channel, or from Andrew's previous thread, the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auctions held their first event in Orange County over the weekend. Since this was literally in our back yard (10 minutes down the road!) we pulled out all the stops. Not only was our big rig there, as per usual with Barrett-Jackson auctions, but we also had a good sized car corral/show area with a large tent where we could do some product demos and talk to people a bit more in depth about finish care. And we had a fantastic time!
This is our typical big rig set up for a Barrett-Jackson event. This is the lane all the cars travel down before going up on the auction block. We wipe down every single car before it enters the building!

This was our car corral/show and demo area for the weekend.

The "Black Mamba" under the awning at our big rig.

This gorgeous '57 Chevy, painted by Pete Santini, ended up being our D/A polishing demo on Friday afternoon.

Another body shop had done the owners a "favor" by buffing out the hood recently. That left a ton of holograms, as you can see here:

A few minutes later half the hood was buffed out using Ultimate Compound with a W8207 pad on a G110v2. The right side is now defect free while the left side still shows horrible swirls and cobwebs.

The following few cars were sold at auction the day before:

The auction block.

duPont Registry had a great collection of expensive and rare cars on display.

The new Ferrari 458 Italia next to the outgoing F430.

A 1953 Ferrari 342 America, one of only 6 made. A little research showed that this particular car, chassis #0246/AL, sold at auction in 1999 for $1.25 million. With the escalating prices of old Ferraris these days, one can only wonder what this car is worth today.
