H.I.D install??

Has anyone done it? Is it hard to do?
I have halogens on my 2008 SX4 and i would like to upgrade...please post tips and advice if u have any

install and aim.

Check for some aftermarket projectors. HID bulbs in OEM headlight assemblies are not even worth it.

Tip and advice: don't put HIDs in halogen housings.

Best tip I can offer is to join a forum specific to your make and model and read up on HID there. Here you will get generic advice based upon the experience from owners with a wide range of vehicles. What works well on a Ford may flop on a Toyota.

For instance, on my Accord forum, there are dozens of forum threads focusing on all aspects of HID's including installation tips, cool mods, best places to buy, and post installation troubleshooting.

I have hid's on my civic. i don't have projectors. Its super easy to install just negative and positive, and a place to mount the ballast. I don't get much glare. just don't go above 6k in temp because you will glare like crazy. Personally I have 5k, Oem is 43k. Proper aiming is the key.

For starters, it glares, bad. You can aim them so they face far enough down that they won't glare into oncoming traffic, but then you defeat the purpose since you have just limited your vision. You can also be pulled over and cited for it. It is technically illegal to put HID systems in cars that did not come equipped with them originally. Basically, it just really isn't a good idea. There's a reason halogen housings come with halogen bulbs in them. I have heard many times like above, from Mustang owners, Civic owners, F150 owners, Tundra owners, name 'em, that they don't glare. I've driven by every single vehicle listed with HIDs in them and wanted to chase every one of them down. When you have 5% tint on your windows, and it blinds you, it's bad.

white will be 43k and 5k. 6k will be white with a tint of blue.

Just for the record. The Toyota prius has hids as oem and they are not projectors.

Yeah, and they glare like all hell get out too. I don't know why or how that happened, but I hate seeing those lights coming towards me or behind me at night. I'm sorry, but again, when you have 5% tint on your windows, and you still want to put your sunglasses on at night so you aren't as blinded (which I've done before on many occasions, esp. with how many Prii are around here), it's bad.

honestly, its all up to you on which you way you want to go about this situation. but just remember your taking a risk..and its funny, because i used to have 6K in my projector housings and my friend had the same 6K bulbs (bought from same place) in his eclipse with reflector housings..what makes it so funny is that we both had the same color bulbs (diamond white with a hint of blue) but he always got pulled over for them and i never did

haha. thanks guys. AND 5% TINT!?!?! ugh! i wish i was u..i hate my 35%..dad wanted me to stay legal
