I just got back form the car wash.. I wanted to head over to wash I used in the past, but the attendant informed me that the wash itself was broken.
Thinking of where I could try next.. I recall a car wash down the street from my Midas service center which was in a prime location after you wash your vehicle.. (shade Trees Near But the lot)
Falling in line at the car wash.. I couldn't decide If I wanted to do the wash myself.. Have a machine do it.. or have the guys at the counter do it, But ona conveyor belt system.
At this time I only had 12.00 and I was a bit out of breath to really spend allot of time on the jeep.. Paying just 9.00 I was able to get a halfway respectable wash (top and Bottom) and scrubbed the rims and tires.
After exiting the wash.. I noticed the lot was getting full fast.. But I had an exit plan.. The Midas Parking lot.. Besides I'm sure the Midas guys (which have worked on my "late" wrangler) wouldn't mind if I set up in the lot for a while) Sure it was Sunday and I wouldn't be in anyone's way.
First Things First, The bug and tar remover.. Focusing below the jeep's wheel wells, Front bumper and rear bumper areas.. I was able to get a nice clean surface to work from. The 07 jeep wasn't in that bad of shape thou nicks and scrapes were noticeable.. But no dings.
Using The bug and tar remover, I worked all around the lower half of the jeeps frame and inside the doors, and rocker panel areas. Thou next time I could use some more rags and detail tools.
This allowed me to explore the whole area inside and out of the jeep. Turns out the jeep must have been in a snowy climate at one time and was parked under a group of pine trees (pine needles everywhere) for a short time.
After the bug and tar removed as applied, It was time to move onto the wheels and rims.. I guess I'll be needing the floor jack soon.. the inside of the rims were not as clean as I would have expected, but I could only clean the outside rim area.
Tire Foaming all the rubber parts (not the tires) and in the wheel wells, I was slowly working my way up the vehicle.. Opening the hood I cleaned in and around the engine and hood hinges. The interior would have to wait.
All in all after the cleaning, the 07 Commander was in great shape.. still some areas where I felt the dealer should have cleaned a bit better but over time a good clay job or Scratch-x would help resolve the issues.
The last step before returning home, was the quick detail spray.. just the short time (roughly 3 hours ) I was cleaning the jeep dust had already collected on the surface areas I just clean. Might be a good time to get the California Duster soon.
One thing I neglected to do.. But one can't really take pictures while cleaning, I just got so wrapped up in the cleaning. I simply didn't grab any pictures.. Oh well maybe next time.. Or better yet I've set aside some time on the Blur Ridge Parkway yo get some Images of the jeep there.. Or the little stream in the foot hills of North Carolina I have crossed before with the wrangler.. Who knows might even get an early snow in the mountains while down that way..
