I just wanted to inform you guys about the Patrick Cudahay Fire that is currently going on in Southeast Wisconsin near Milwaukee. Some may have already heard, or are familiar with the plant or what it produces. But in case you do not know, they package Pig products for eating. Late Sunday Night a fire broke out between the roof and the sprinkler system. The issue with this fire is a that the sprinklers could not do their job, because the fire was about them. Another is how much grease is in the building that is continually fueling the fire. Fire departments from all over Southeast Wisconsin have been responding, including my department. The fire is very hard to fight, and is difficult to everyone involved. I would like it if everyone would just keep this in mind, and realize the seriousness of this event. For the home owners who got evacuated it is very tough. To put this in perspective they are using a ton of water. Over 9 MILLION GALLONS OF WATER!! Which with the two bucket method is 900,000 Washes, with the 3 bucket method 600,000 washes, and 1 bucket method 1,800,000 washes. Now those numbers are five gallons buckets all the way filled up, and only counting the bucket, not the water you use for rinsing. Just wanted to inform you guys.

Wow, that is a dangerous situation with the location and the ammonia. Good luck to all of the firefighters.

While still smoldering today I see it is now very controlled. I'm relieved to see that the community did not run out of water to fight it as the mayor was worried might happen. Lucky that there were no deaths. This was a massive fire with the potential for death and injuries. Ammonia storage was the largest in the state, many drums of hydraulic oil in the building, gusty winds and difficulty in getting water on the fire all added to the risk. I see that over 130 firefighters were there from many surrounding communities.

PC employed 1800 in Cudahy, WI and I feel for those who will now be out of work. I hope they rebuild here.

Watching the firefighters fight this fire for nearly 24 hours I know how tired they must be. Great job.
