  • Meguiar's Direct vs. ADS

Today, I got an email from Meg's Direct that advertised free shipping with purchases over $50. But, I noticed some differences between ADS and Meg's Direct.

For example, Gold class Trim Detailer at ADS is regularly $5.99 (currently on sale for $3.75). Meg's Direct wants $7.99!

Upon further investigation in comparing other products, the prices between ADS and Meg's Direct are similar, but ADS has more sales on his products.

I guess it evens out with Meg's Direct in comparison with ADS. With the free shipping at Meg's Direct vs. ADS, I guess you'll spend the same amount of money?

Just my observation. Someone else correct me if I'm wrong.

Megs Direct charges the MSRP... A dealer like ADS can sell for less if they want to.

Just go with where you find it cheaper.

Or give your business to the person or company that is also providing you with the best service.

If you visit the XYX company and pick their brains for hours on how to tackle a project and then give your business to the guy that didn't help you but had cheaper products, well you decide if you think is fair or a win/win business deal for everyone involved.

This is true and I agree. I have indeed found myself paying more to a business just because he/she gives me good customer service and in my mind it is worth paying extra for that.

            Re: Meguiar's Direct vs. ADS

So far my purchases have been split between both ADS and Megs Direct. My G110 package was bought last month at the Del Mar Nationals from Megs, and I just received my first shipment from ADS a couple of weeks ago (Pep Boys and Walmart are also major players). The information and advice from MOL has been incredibly invaluable, as have the SoCal training classes, so Megs definitely has secured my brand loyalty.

My simplistic top-down view is that any manufacturer or business wants that brand loyalty first. The basic business model being that if you buy a bottle of M205 from a distributor, the distributor must restock that bottle from Meguiars. Meguiars Direct is a convenient resource to purchase hard to find products you may not find over the counter or may have difficulty finding online, but I feel that the core business of Meguiars is volume sales to resellers, followed by direct sales to the public. This seems to be supported by Meguiars Direct given how links to retail resellers and PBE resellers are provided to the public on their website.

Now if we could convince Meguiars to sell directly to the public from an Irvine CA based brick and mortar store, you guys would never get me to leave!

Was that a reference to us getting aid on the forum here? I thought Meguir's Direct isn't 100% towards Meguiars:

"Meguiar's Direct is an authorized independent online retail store owned and operated by SureSource LLC"

In this case though, Meguiar's wins either way lol

If there was a brick and mortar store at Meguiars HQ in Irvine I would never leave. Now only if I can get Meguairs to move their HQ back to Pasadena (walking distance for me) and set up a store there; well maybe its better if they didn't because if they did my checking account may go belly up for sure!!!!!

                    Re: Meguiar's Direct vs. ADS

9I have bought products from both and I personally will never buy from Meguiar's Direct again. On my last order that I placed with Meg's Direct it took them 3 weeks to ship my order and when they did they only shipped out less that 1/3 of my order. When I called to figure out what happened I was first put on hold for 15 minutes and then hung up on by the customer service representative. After my second call and 15 additional minutes on hold I was told that they had no idea what happened to my order and that the rest of my order would ship out that day and would be sent with expedited shipping. Not only did my order not ship out that day as was promised, it shipped 2 days later, my package took a full week beyond that to get to my doorstep. Even then they still neglected to send one of the items I ordered.

As a contrast, I placed an order with ADS on a Saturday night, a larger order than the one I placed with Meg's Direct, and had it in my hands the following Tuesday.

So to compare, you can either receive your order correct in 3 days with ADS or incorrect in over a month with Meg's Direct, its your choice.

I strongly suggest that Meguiar's reconsider their partnership with whomever runs Meguiar's Direct as they are giving Meguiar's a bad name.

I can not speak for Meg's direct, but, I just ordered $275 worth of product from ADS and Rick was very patient with my "newbie" questions and seemed to want to help me. I ordered on Monday and I was told it would be here (GA) by Friday. I will let you know if I am satisfied.

I buy a good bit from Wal-Mart they have a really cute greeter and she always smiles at me. Maybe she see's me buying all that Meguiar's stuff and thinks if she is nice to me I will detail her car. Women you just can't trust them. That's it I am done with Wal Mart.

I told you guys I would let you know when I got my stuff.....well it arrived today and I do not have time to test my G110...ugh! Dinner and a movie with the family. I ordered it late Monday morning and it arrived Friday morning. So far I am pleased with my purchase from ADS. Oh quick question.....who changed all of the Meg's Direct to RED???? I think it is a little CHEATING....lol. Talk about branding.....lol. Go, RICK @ ADS.
