Just a reminder to my fellow Californians.
California is increasing its sales tax. Effective Wednesday, April 1, sales tax in California will go up 1 percent, or 1 cent on each dollar. The temporary tax hike will be in effect until either July 1, 2011 or July 1, 2012, depending on whether voters approve the Proposition 1A Budget Stabilization Act in a statewide election to be held May 19.
In addition to the state sales-tax increase, residents of certain California counties will see their local district tax rate increase as of April 1 (See table below).
