Wow, that is an old paper.

That was back in the day when City was a lousy team, losing to Forest Park 19 to 0 like that. You wouldn't see that happen today. No way.

It looks like they were part of the The All-America Football Conference from 1946-1949 then merged in with the NFL in 1950 as part of the National Conference, that's why you see the reference to the Chicago Bears. New York also had the Giants, who in 1958 played the Baltimore Colts in the game that's widely regarded as the game that ushered in the NFL as a premier sports league in America's eyes.
