Same with our hemi and my 3.7L. The other two Jeeps we have, have the 4.0 I-6 engine and have a little more miles on them so I change those every 5k or once a year.

I do good to change my oil twice a year at 3,000 intervals in my Liberty so its no big deal. I would never let my intervals go longer than 5k and will not do that with my Jeep unless I start driving more.

Every engine is different so us telling you what we do is kinda pointless. Personally I would not let my intervals go over 5k, 8k is really to long IMHO. I really dont care what a light on the dash tells me. A combustion engine produces acids and that sitting around in the oil pan isnt good for the lower end of the engine. Plus that gives sludge a better chance to build up, more so if you use cheap oils like pennzoil, etc.

Ohh, I use Valvoline SYN in my KJ and the XJ. WK gets Mobil one and the ZJ gets Valvoline Maxlife. All of them get the Purolator filter.

I have an 07 Silverado Classic and use Penzoil Platinum full synthetic oil and can go easily 6k miles before an oil change. My advice to you is, if your truck came with the DIC then is there for a reason, so use it!.
