  • Fifth Gear Car Wash Test...

    Thought I would share this.

    Fifth Gear 15x01 Car Wash

I use a touchless car wash in the winter. I give that a 3 out of 10. Still get some water spots and hard on trim but don't have the swirls to deal with.

    Water Blade FTL!

The car wash may have been the winner, but like Paul said, had it not been for the blade, the hand wash would have been fine.

    Nice find Scott!

It works good! I wipe it off after each run too. But the risk is always there.

I'll keep washing my car for sure without any of those stuff

Re: Fifth Gear Car Wash Test...

I've been meaning to post about this after watching the full show earlier in the week. No doubt those water blades left the marring behind as the scratches are all straight line that followed the motion of the blade.

Funny thing is, this is the second time in recent weeks that we've seen some sort of car wash shoot out where hand washing did not win the day. Funny thing is, neither of these shoot outs ever talked about proper hand washing techniques. You could argue that dunking an old towel into a bucket of dirty water and rubbing it over the paint is, technically, hand washing. But that alone doesn't make it right.

Tests done by people who don't know what they're doing are not really valid tests.

Was the blade clean though? Only time I'd imagine seeing something like that (which I never have using my blade) is if something is dirty. Granted I haven't used my blade in some time, but still...

They didn't really use the proper wash technique, it just blows my mind that a car wash is less damaging.

I prefer the touch less car wash, even though it basically dewaxes my car, its worth it. lol

It appears that like in any aspect of life, proper technique is everything. I will stick with the hand wash, 2 buckets with the grit guard and drying the cars the way I always do. Thanks for the post Scott.

Interesting little video... would have been even more interesting if they had the complete wash with all the proper tools/techniques (as mentioned above).
