    Get together bbq in pomona

    HI EVERYBODY

    Wasn't exacttly sure where to put this post

    Am having a little get-to-know people BBQ etc at my place in POMONA, CA on SAT, OCT 11. I'm in the process of getting my COBRA replica ready for possibly being displayed at SEMA. You can help if you would like but this more of a putting faces with forum names, etc kinda of thingy. I can probably be talked into taking KERMIT [COBRA] out for some rides that day.

    I have a TV/DVD unit in the garage where I will be playing some automotive DVD's of stuff I have transferred from 16mm, 8mm, etc to DVD for companies, etc. I have ROAD AMERICA 1963-1964 in color, DAYTONA/SEBRING 1964 in color, LEMANS 1966 in color, quite abit of RIVERSIDE [got to race the last 4 races there] stuff in both COLOR & B/W, some interesting films produced by GM & CHRYSLER in B/W produced in the late 50's testing their vehicles at their test tracks, plus some footage of me racing COBRAS, TIGERS, & stuff through the years.

    Would love to meet some of you people. If you want to help with the detailing thats great, if you decide to visit & watch films that great to.

    Gosh Steve... thanks for the invite to our forum community... I hope some people will take advantage of your offer of hospitality...

    Personally, I have a pretty busy month with at least 6 different classes, so the one Saturday I do have off I'll be doing my own carguy project with my son...

        Its really great that you do this for US CAR PEOPLES. I plan on making it some SAT or THURS to learn from the best. BARRY is also one of the class guys I've met in automotive circles. Can't say that about too many actors I've worked with through the years. Was driving a GT-350 at the HISTORICS quite few years back & BARRY took time to chat. KINDA interesting taking about super-detailing cars & waxes over the music of a exhaust notes.

        I thought the idea of a BBQ would be a great way to meet fellow forum members & such.

        Will probably do another one next year after I get done having a four-post lift installed. Also a buddy of mine is building a "thing" for me that allows you to take your tire off, put one on this gadget & detail out your rims while turning the tire on this thing. You then flip them around to do the backside.

        This is also the of the few SATS that KERMIT & I are also not snowed under. This weekend the KERMIT & I are doing a movie/celebrity show in BURBANK. I don't have table at this one but am bringing over the car for A CONVERSATION PIECE. Buddy of mine is flying in from ST. LOUIS to do the show & I promised him I'd take him on a run down HOLLYWOOD BLVD & SUNSET BLVD in KERMIT. Alot of SATS I'm down in SAN JUAN CAP helping a good buddy of mine who has cancer super-detail & keep his COBRA up & running.

        What is amazing is how threaputheic doing a serious detail job on your car can be. Your exhausted when done but its a great exhausted.

        Hope to see a few of you people at the BBQ

          Glad you can make it.

          We are not sure right now if KERMIT will be at SEMA but according to the company that wants it will be. So I'm just being ready just in case.

          We live in really nice quiet new neighborhood [22 years old]. Where my house is located used to be a orange grove I played in when I was a kid. JOHNNY PROVOST [Lassie] & I played there together for a long time before he moved to be closer to the studio. I did the exact opposite. I moved out ot be farther form the studios. His old house is located about a block from my house.

          I'll post the address the beginning of next week.

              Maybe my son and I will do our carguy project at your Barbecue!

              We're in Apple Valley, so Pomona is just a hop and skip down the hill as those of us who live up the hill say...

              The hill is the Cajon Pass which is the mountain you drive up when you leave the lower elevations of SoCal to go up to the High California Desert, the Mojave Desert.

                    That would be great having you & your son here for the BBQ. Know CAJON PASS quite well. Race at LAS VEGAS SPEEDWAY twice a year so I drive KERMIT thru THE PASS to & back. When you are here I'll tell you a story about driving KERMIT to a race in VEGAS in NOV 2003.

                    In the early 80's was driving a COBRA to LAS VEGAS for a race. As we approached VICTORVILLE my wife mentioned that if we had time she would like to visit the ROY ROGERS/DALE EVANS MUSEUM, which is now located back EAST somewhere. So I decide to keep family unity i would go. As we approached the MUSEUM we are met outside by both ROY ROGERS & DALE EVANS. ROY walks up to the COBRA, smiles & says "We heard you coming before we saw you. How about a ride." Turns out ROY was real big car buff. So away I go with ROY in the passenger seat. DALE took my wife [KAY] inside for a private tour of the museum & to visit while we were gone. The ride went all the way to BARSTOW. ROY had a smile ten feet wide. Turned around at LENWOOD & headed back. Told ROY that the COBRA had about 420HP more than TRIGGER. Dropped off ROY at the MUSEUM, KAY came out, we all shook hands, ROY says "drop by on your way back & let me know how you do in the race." We did drop by later on the following MONDAY AM but they weren't there but told the person there that I had finished 2nd. I never did make it in the Musuem. I met his daughter CHERYL at a CELEBRITY SHOW I did a few years ago & told her the story. She said she remembered her dad talking about the car & the ride for a week.

                    Have a movie in the DVD collection that was actaully shot at GEORGE AFB in the early 60's highlighting F-104 STARFIGHTERS starring B-1 BOB [BOB DORNAN].

                    MIKE, I promise not to put you to work here. Its your day off to just enjoy the friendship & films.

                        Really cool story...my wife loved it...a Victorville girl herself!

                        Steve...would love to meet you...we may be in town that weekend depending on if our kids football team makes the play offs or not and how well they do?

                        We (wife and I) have been talking about building a Cobra car for years...sounds like you are the man to talk with!

                        Again...great story/thread and its neat to hear someone open up and share some time with other car crazy people!
