Hubcaps should be outlawed!

So I'm driving south on the 55 freeway the other day when suddenly this renegade hub cap comes rolling down the freeway right into the path of my car.
I was destined to run directly into it and all I could think about was expensive bumper replacement (not to mention the cost of replacing the clear bra). Since fortunately no one was next to me on my right I veered over to try to outrun it before it made contact. No such luck. The spinning guillotine of death slammed into my drivers side door and left a 5 inch gash in the paint.

It's in the shop as I write and of course, in order to blend the paint correctly the clear bra piece on the fender has to be removed. (This will be the second time in 4 months that I've had to replace a portion of the clear bra due to some freaky accident). Needless to say I am no longer a clear bra advocate considering how much it costs to replace it when damage occurs.

Anyone that knows me knows how I feel about my TSX. A few of you may remember the husband-drops-the-glass-door-against-the-side-of-my-car incident a few years back. (I'm sure Mike P. remembers the wet-sanding adventure
All in all about a $500 experience.
I hate hubcaps.

My old Accord was a magnet for things like that too so I feel your pain. First some drunk guy backed into the side of it which required me to get a whole new door. Then I had a chunk of concrete fly off a flat bed truck and smash my hood, which then needed to be replaced and painted. A few weeks later a semi tire shredded and dented the new hood. It was fixed and painted again. I also had a car audio shop drill a screw through the quater panel. Then about a year after that a kid on a bicycle crashed into my car denting the hood and fender! Luckily my father owned his own body shop.


I'm a fellow TSX owner too!
Aside from a few rock chips she's still free on scratches and dings....

Ouch. to bad you could not have chased down the car it fell off of. I hate hubcaps. Hope it gets fixed to good as new.

Sorry to hear about your car! I know you keep your car in very perfect condition and I remember the old incident . Hope the shop match the paint perfectly.

Doah!!! Sorry to hear about the incident. I know what it's like to have things come right at you as your driving. It almost seems like slow motion. Hope all goes well and your paint matches up perfectly.

Havent had the hubcaps come flying but back in 1994 my parents were drivin to Vegas and a small cargo trailer just unhooked from an SUV about 4 cars up.

Because i used to drive back and forth to Arizona frequently last year I was constantly on the lookout for loose items, well one night, about 1AM driving back, I had just left Gila Bend and was comin up on the 10 to head into Phoenix on the 1 lane road, a semi truck just throws what was left of his tire back at my Tundra at the time. Took out the front bumper, grille, the lights i had on it, and dented the hood. It was def. a scary and aggrivating experience and I feel your pain

Hubcaps are one of the things I despise....... and I agree, they should be outlawed.

Every time I get my hands on one I either feed it to my bear or turn it into something the world can tolerate.
