  • nanotech coating that is superhydrophobic!!!

This is new, read it today from one of the tech sites that I read daily.

The Air Force's Office of Scientific Research has funded a study that's come up with a novel waterproofing technique that could prevent ice formation and corrosion from damaging parts of an aircraft, like optical sensors. The transparent nanotech coating has a nanoporous surface that is superhydrophobic, which makes water droplets form and roll or bounce-off the aircraft's skin rather than collecting, which is how ice formations happen. Better still it can be carefully crafted to send the droplets in particular pathways across the coating, meaning it may also have applications as a cheap and simple water-collection system for desert environments: this idea was inspired by the way the Namib Desert beetle gathers moisture. We wonder though... is it as good as Golden Shellback?
Meguiar's did you give out the secret formula of NXT Tech Wax 2.0 for the first time in 100+ years?!?!?!?!

If they did... could they really tell us? However, if Meg's helped develop it THAT would be cool stuff.

Wonder who discovered the formula first? WE know Meguiars did.

As I was typing my reply I thought that maybe it could have been a top secret research project between Megs and the Government. Just speculation.

Oakley is using hydrophobic polymer technology on many of their sports glasses these days to repel water and sweat. Pretty sure they aren't just applying a coat of NXT 2.0 on them though.
