        I used to drink coffee, a ton..

        Like 6-8 cups a day
        Now if I get any caffeine, it's from tea only...

          You reminded me of visiting Miami when I would drive from my sister's home in Naples, FL to the Keys. I'd leave real early but always made a stop in Miami for a "café cubano."
          My mother's side of the family is Swedish and they have a similar breakfast. We use skorpa, which is a lightly toasted sweet bread but with no butter on it. We also make egg coffee; trust me it's excellent.

          Cheers!

          BTW, you've got the same hair cut as I do !

            Re: What's your coffee?

            I really can't tell the difference between coffees, but I do like Sumatra and will always order that if available. I stay away from flavored coffees like French vanilla, hazelnut, Irish cream. Too much sugar just in the oils and syrups they soak the coffee beans in to create the flavor.

            Other than that, I drink the unidentifiable "mutt" coffee brewed in the break room at work, stuff I brew at home in my single cup brewer, or sometimes I really slum it and buy coffee from the vending machine in my company lunch area. Even McDonald's brews up some decent coffee.

            At places like Starbucks I never order anything other than regular coffee. One of the cashiers (I refuse to buy into Starbucks terminolgy and call them "baristas". And the sizes are small, medium, and large. Who came up with venti anyways?) once told me that my drink order doesn't have enough syllables, such as a "non-fat, double latte with soy and no whip".

            Yeah.........

              Re: What's your coffee?

              If I don't have time to make it at home, I get a Starbucks Grande Cafe Americano (3 shots of espresso in hot water) in Venti cup with extra hot water.

              At the house I use Costco's Kirkland Columbian from the can. I go through a slightly laborious process but it makes the perfect cup of coffee:

              16 oz of filtered water in a Pyrex measuring cup brought to a boil (approx. 5:20 in a good microwave);

              In a second Pyrex cup put 4 measured tablespoon of coffee, this is the only variable;

              When the water is boiling, remove from microwave and insert dial thermometer, swish with a tablespoon until the temp drops to around 200-205 degrees;

              Dump this hot water into the grounds and let steep for 4 minutes with one stirring at the 2 minute mark;

              After 4 minutes pour the brewed coffee through a metal screen filter (normally used to replace paper filters) into the first Pyrex cup;

              Rinse the metal filter and insert a brown paper coffee filter;

              Pour the coffee back through the paper filter, don't wait for every bit of coffee to drain or it will add bitterness;

              Add choice of whitener and reheat the coffee in the microwave for 1-1:30;

              Voila!

              People watch me do this and usually say something like, "Are you nuts?"

              Until they taste it.

                    I like the Costco Jose's Columbian roast. I mix it 50/50 with the Kirkland de-caf and brew it very strong.

                      I used to drink at least 3 cups per day and now I've been off coffee for 3 weeks. I'm hooked on a product called "Spark"...if you're interested in what it is send me a PM.
