Re: My first Brinkmann - RIP

The ticket to rechargeable products is to let them die all together then recharge them from dead. The batteries will last longer. At least in NiCad batteries which we use on our radios. 3 years a long time with how much you used it.

But your laptop has a replaceable battery. The Brinkmann doesn’t. It’s not designed for anybody to replace them so there won’t be a “generic replacement.”

On the other hand, Brinkmann doesn’t make batteries. They make flashlights. So at least the cells, if not the pack, are likely to be some battery manufacturer’s standard part, which may or may not be available through retail channels.

Most rechargeables have Ni-Cad packs but the manual on Brinkmann’s website says the Maxfire uses lead-acid batteries, which tend to be even harder to come by.

It’s worth taking it apart to have a look.

Joe, if you haven’t tossed it yet we can open it up to see what’s inside. Maybe we can get the parts or rig something.

If you just want to toss it, I’d be willing to take it off your hands.

      PC.

MAN HOW DID I MISS YOUR REPLY???? I tossed three altogether now. This one we used and two that lasted maybe a few weeks out of the package.

I have two in the van now. One of those I have had for 2 1/2 years. When it dies it will be your birthday/Christmas present from me to you.
