It's getting further and further from stock all the time!! Right now it's got the Mopar Stage 1 upgrade on it, which gives 240HP and 265lb-ft of torque but it also has the smoother flowing composite intake from the 2006 and newer models (factory claim is another 8HP) and a dual stage boost controller along with hard pipes for all the turbo plumbing. The front tires will break loose from a 20mph roll even with the boost controller set to the low level. I'm hoping for a day of decent weather at the drag strip to run it with this dual stage boost controller and see if I can get into the high 13 second bracket. But too often we've got a 25 mph headwind and 100 degree temps at the drag strip out here, which isn't great for optimum performance!!!!

I know guys who have installed big turbo kits, proper fuel feed, larger downpipes, etc and are running in the mid to low 12 second 1/4 miles with these things, and these are daily drivers. Add a shot of juice and one of them is in the high 11 second range. Not what one normally thinks when you say "PT Cruiser"

Funny how just a little track instruction will get you driving with both hands on the wheel all the time!!! I've changed my position in the car so that I sit a bit more upright and a bit closer to the wheel than I used to. It's much more relaxing and I can react much faster to things happening around me. Track time also teaches you to be super aware of everything around you. There are so many lousy drivers on the road today that I think everybody should be made to go through performance driving training. Not only do the vast majority of drivers have no clue how to handle their car in an emergency, they have no clue what their car's limits are and how to manage the car at those limits.

At Buttonwillow Raceway Park I've always gone 9 & 3 and never took my hands off those positions, just crossing at the tightest corners. This in the PT Cruiser Turbo even while chasing a Nissan 300ZX that couldn't get away from me.

In the Miata on local canyon roads I do the same thing, only dropping the right hand to shift, then it's back on the wheel. I've yet to come across a canyon road that I couldn't negotiate without just crossing my arms, and there are some pretty tight turns on some of them. If the tail end ever does step out it's very easy to quickly countersteer for correction.

I also use this method for the occasional racing video game.

I personally love performance driving, as long as it is safe. unfortunately, even though i drive a bimmer, it is the slowest one they make now. I always love to joke around by saying.... my car sounds like a Ferrari, handles like a lotus , looks like a M3, brakes like a Porsche, but accelerates like a 1920 FORD MODEL-T !!!

My car isnt fast enough for performance driving lol. I drive with one hand unless its really windy because my car is light and sometimes I cant control it. I usually have my arm resting on the arm rest on the door with my hand around 7 or 8 and the other hand on the radio or just sitting on the gear shifter. Sometimes if Im feeling cool then Ill have the hand on 12. I only drive with my left hand even though Im a rightie.

My truck doesn't lend itself well to performance driving, but if I'm trying to corner fast, I use 9 and 3, and if I'm starting off fast I use 12 and one hand on the shifter. Normal driving is either 12 and a hand out the window or on the shifter, or 5 and 7.

    LOL Tillmanator!

Well, I'm female, blind in one eye and old. I don't do much performance driving... even in my Mustang. I just like to enjoy the view and try to look cool (though I realize I no longer am)

    LOL

When I'm driving my old VW, it's right hand at 6 and left arm out the window. But with only 40 horses, you don't have to worry too much about performance driving. LOLOL
