    NEW ScratchX!

We would like to announce that our ScratchX paint cleaner has been re-formulated to be used by both hand and now with a dual action polisher like our G100. You can order it beginning today by calling Meguiar's Customer Care Hotline at 1-800-347-5700

    New ScratchX

It will begin showing up in retail stores in about 4 weeks with Wal-Mart likely to have it first.

    I knew it!

When does the roumered powerball like product come out?

Awesome, now its official! I knew there was talk about it, must have been an early hint(or slip up) to a 'new' product.

On the scale of 1 to sandpaper, how abrasive will it be compared to like 80 and 83?

It comes with a flip top too. Instead of the screw on top that ScratchX uses now.

                  Re: NEW ScratchX!

The new formula ScratchX would be closest to M82 Swirl Free Polish if you had to compare.

On a side note...ScratchX was not reformulated to replace M83 or M80, it was done to add versitility to an already top selling hand applied product. There are many people who love and use ScratchX, and for those who do, we wanted to ensure they also had the ability to use it with a D/A Polisher

                    Re: NEW ScratchX!

I'm going to chime in and try to sound like an expert here - forgive me if I screw this up, but here goes:

This new ScratchX was used last night on Lee's 1993 Lexus SC and Dicks's 2004 Cadillac Escalade EXT, in both instances using the G100 and a polishing pad. I was able to very quickly remove a series of pretty ugly scratches on Lee's car, but Mike Phillips did not have the same luck on Dick's car. This is certainly not because I possess more skill than Mr. Phillips (THAT notion is so absurd that it shouldn't even be discussed!!!), but rather due to something that we all should keep in mind: not all painted surfaces are created equal, nor are all scratches the same. Just because a product works great on one car does not mean it will perform identically on all cars, all paints, etc. The paint on the 'Slade was deemed by Mr. Phillips to be quite hard and the scratches quite deep, and obviously the paint on the Lexus was comparatively much softer. ScratchX did, however, do a terrific job of removing the swirls around the scratches on Dick's 'Slade. Just something to keep in mind when using any product on any car.

And now I'll go back to just being some guy who knows just enough to be dangerous.

Mike, it sounds like you know what your talking about. I need to buy some of the new ScratchX for small spots, not so much to use with my G100. #80 and #83 work well enough for me with my G100.

if anyone is itnterested, Shawn here has twice as much of the new formula at his place than I have at mine.

And yet, over the weekend I used some of the "old" stuff and golly gee whiz, it worked just fine by hand to remove fingernail scratches in the door handle cups of a friend's car.
