They sure have changed. 5 years ago you would see a person with a cell phone and you would stereotype them "What do they do that is so important to have a cell phone" Now you see people without a cell phone and they are stereo-typed "Why DONT they have a cell phone".
I canceled my home phone line and just use my cell phone these days. Company pays for my Nextel and I use it for business and personal. I average over 2500 minutes a month and 1000 direct connect minutes a month.

Funny you posted this... I have all my cell phones I have ever had. From the first car phone my parents gave me as a hand me down when they moved to "brick phones". It was mounted on the dash with a box under the seat/in trunk and wires running all over and that fun little spiral antenna, new it was something like $900). I don't even have a home phone. What would we do today without cell phones?

I like to look at old devices, very outdated by today's standards and think "Hey, I used one of these."

Recently I had a retro gaming urge, so I dusted off the old Super Nintendo and enjoyed a few Super Punch Out sessions.

I wanted to go even further, so I went to my parents' home and using my archeologist skills, unearthed my old Sega Master system and the box containing a few dozen games. SWEEEEET

I'll spend the next few weeks 20 years in the past.

My Dad used to carry a brick when I was a young kid. Now he carries a RAZR and I use a SLVR, my how times have changed.

My first phone was like the Motorola bag phone seen on the left side of that pic, I think I paid $400 for it....Stored away for future use... HAHA

And I still have a Texas Instruments puter in a briefcase, all it had was a keyboard and a cassette tape recorder, you plugged into a TV, I think it has 64megs memory, if you turn it off everything you just entered is gone. Unless you remembered to save it on tape...

My first Cell was a Radio Shack Bag phone. I loved the thing and was kind of upset when I could no longer get batteries for it and had to buy one of these little handhelds. The thing had a 5 Watt power output. I think these new little phones are limited to only 1/2 watt.

That old phone was much more reliable than anything else I have seen to date in my area. For my first handhled phone I remember I had to actually lean forward in my '87 F-250 to get a signal because there was too much steel for it. So I had to sit foward closer to the windsheild in order to be able to use the thing. Now adays there are alot more towers and the technology has improved. but when I initially had to make the switch, I was was one unhappy camper.

I wish I still had my brick cel phone I had in 1994 or so.

If anybody has one and wants to unload it I will take it.

I want to use it as a gag prop and carry it around-LOL

                    Please let me know.

I like how it says compact, lightweight ,rugged weighs 26 ounces 45 min of talk time. compared to today's 2 ounce phones with 3-4 hrs talk time

It was fun looking through the Sears catalouge. The VCR were 4-5 hundred dollars. A fax machine for 1500.00. Now the appliances were comparable to today's , with the exception of the hi-efficency ones.

I'll have to check my kid's room to see if the brick phone my brother gave them to play with is still in there. Who knows? 20 years from now, they might be collector's items.
