  • New guy. *couple pics of my truck

hello. My name is Aaron. I drive a black 99 Dakota R/T. I'm a decent detailer, but still pretty new to the whole scene. The process I have been using is on the stock paint. My truck is currently being painted BMW m3 carbon black. Anyway, I use:
-Meguiar's deep crystal or NXT car wash
-3m swirl mark remover for dark vehicles (used to use meguiar's scratch-x)
    -Meguiar's step #2 of 3
    -Meguiar's mirror finish #7
    -Meguiar's mirror finish #26

    here's some pics:

Very nice job you did there, and that's a lot of paint to work on.
      I just love detailing

the truck always looks like that...I wash it every 3 days, and at least a coat of wax once a week. I go into withdrawl if I can't wash it.

but if I were to do everythign in one day, including the claybar, it would probably take most of the day, since I handwax everything currently.

The last Time I did that was for the Mopar Southern nationals, and for wash, claybar, swirl mark, and #7 and #26, and instant detailer in between every coat, it took just over 5 hrs.

the scratch-x to me felt very thick and difficult to spread on...(almost like a really heavy sunscreen) and it felt kind of gritty. The 3m is thinner, and goes on much easier and seems to work better as a base. I dont know if there is a different formula or not now.

Thanks everybody for the kind words so far.

Looks great, I have always liked the look of the R/T! Can't beat black, looks like you use #26 you may have to give #21 or NXT a try sometime.

Very nice. I'm gonna have to try the dark vehicle formula. My truck is indigo blue, Ive' had black, and this is almost as stubborn.

where would the #21 go? Is it instead of the #26? and isn't the NXT a 1-step system?

I love how dark blues look on trucks. and you think living in Orlando, I would have ben smarter and not went with black for a repaint

but the truck is getting resprayed with a much better (BMW m3 carbon black) black now.... I can't wait to see it

Just some food for thought if you ever want to try something else... #21 in place of #26, NXT can be used as a one step product on a like new surface, there are very slight cleaners in NXT but its not a cleaner wax. You can also use NXT in place of #26, I really like the look of NXT on black. Don't get me wrong your truck looks killer, just some info if you ever want to experiment.
