  • Horrified at the coin-op spray-n-wash

Well, we had a sunny day after 27 days of rain so I headed up to the the coin-op to wash off all the loose dirt and leaf debris. I only use the rinse cycle...no soap. Then I come home and wash the truck. There are 6 bays there, all full. Everyone was using the BRUSHES!!!!! Good god! Nice black Hummer in one bay, dark blue Dodge Ram in another. Few other cars. NIce white Toyoya 4-runner using the brush and was also cleaning his mudflaps and tail pipe with it.....while he was washing the tuck at the same time!!!! What a swirl fest to say the least. Don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight.
    Black......the ONLY color!

i feel your pain. I sometimes use the coin ops just for a quick spray to remove the dirt. Infact last week was one such occasion. As i wasnt going to have time to dry the car i used the "spot free rinse" option. Be assured there are more spots than i care to count. I could never bring myself to use the brushes though no matter what. Perhaps we can start a world wide anti swirl protest at all the coin ops

Yeah, I cringe when I see this happening. Also, I hate it when the manager is there. He's like: "Yorn notssupposedta bucket wash in 'ere." Been caught by him several times, but he doesnt seem to remember me. Makes me run the meter while I bucket wash and dry. I kept going one time and he threatened to call the police.

Its become a crime to have a good looking car.

I try to warn people if I get what seems like an appropriate moment. Not the people driving the 10-year-old rustbuckets, but the people who look like they care about having a nice looking vehicle.

People have interesting reactions when you remind them that the brush they're using has been dragged across a thousand filthy rustbuckets.

Some time ago I saw this guy "washing" his very dirty Chrysler minivan without rinsing it first. He just took the foambrush and started scrubbing.
I can only imagine what the paint and the brush looks like after doing that.

NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN will i use the scum of the earth which is the "coin operated car wash" it ruined my paint work and its taken me a month to get it back to some resonable looking stage.
When i looked at my car afetr the car wash it had a white residue down 1 side and some of the back (to easly describe it better it was like if someone had used white paint and then washed it in some solvent and poured it over my car)

I go to a bank with a drive-thru that borders a car wash. Not only do I see people scrubbing their cars down with those brushes but I once saw some guy bust out a brand new roll of paper towels to dry his car off!
