  • NY/NJ Slant-Six Club Of America 'Haven's Homestead Event

    Just wanted to share our upcoming event with any other 'Slant-Six' or for that matter, Mopar enthusiasts. The details appear below, and I apologize for the length of this post, but I don't want to omit anything that might turn out to be important.

    Oh, yeah, there is a nominal fee of $5.00 for non-members to participate in this event.

    The Havens Homestead Museum is operated by the Brick Township Historical Society, Inc. It is a house museum and is decorated with home furnishings in the 1860 to 1890 era. Also on the site is the Lizzie Herbert House and a display of farm implements.

    WELCOME SLANT-SIX CLUB OF AMERICA AND NCPC - JERSEY SHORE REGION MEMBERS
    Remember the Sunday rides you used to take with your parents? Well here is a chance to for you to relive those days again.
    The Brick Township Historical Society and the Slant-Six Club of America invites you to take a Sunday ride to visit the Havens Homestead Museum. The event will be held Sunday April 24, 2004 from 11am till. Bring your Slant-Six, V-8, or your modern car. We will tour to the New Jersey Boat Museum in Bay Head (about 8 mile drive) and return to the Homestead Museum. Bring your lunch and have lunch on our grounds. (you may bring your barbeque grill) This is a rain or shine event.

    Directions to Havens Homestead Museum
    From the North: Take GSP south to Exit 98 to Hwy 34. Stay on Hwy 34 turn right on to Hwy 70 west. Take Hwy 70 west, cross Manasquan River. At second traffic light after river turn right on to Herbertsville Road. Stay on Herbertsville Road go through traffic light at Maple Ave. Havens Homestead is about ¼ mile after traffic light. Northerners may also take Highway 34 to Route 70 and follow above directions.
    From the South: Take GSP north to exit 90 which brings you on to Chambers Bridge Road east. Stay right; Take jug handle to go west on Chambers Bridge Road which becomes Lanes Mill Road. Follow Lanes Mill Road to end. Turn Right go over GSP to second traffic light. Stay right , take jug handle. This will put you on to another section of Lanes Mill Road. Stay on Lanes Mill Road to end ( go right at traffic light, Herbertsville Road) At second traffic light is Herbertsville Road turn right. Museum is about ¼ mile on left.
    Southerners may also take Hooper Ave. to Brick Blvd. to Hwy 70 east to jug handle to Herbertsville Road west. Museum is about 1 mile on right.
    From the West: Take Hwy 195 east to exit 31A. Follow to 1st. traffic light turn left on Herbertsville Road. Stay on Herbertsville Road (road divides after junk yards stay right then left) go through two traffic lights. Museum is about ¼ mile after second traffic light on left.
