  • NXT Paste and Application Pad

I'm using the Meguiar's yelow pad with NXT paste, and can I leave the pad in the can after use or should I clean NXT from the pad? I find it easier to simply throw the pad away then try cleaning it after use.

    Thanks!

If you're going to use it in the next day or so, possibly. If not, I would say it is definitely not a good idea.

Try applying a few drops of Dawn Power Plus to the pad and squeeze it under a faucet until it's clean. It is very easy to do. You can also machine wash the hand applicators.

OTOH I can't fault you for buying new pads, they are very inexpensive and available at Walmart.

I keep mine in the can. It has been there for well over a month now with no ill effects. I used it last a little over a week ago.

The NXT is hard to get out of those pads. Prewashing it with Dawn before you throw it in the washer will help get it out. Just make sure you rinse the Dawn out of it before you throw it in the washer, or you could have a lot more suds than you planned on.

My apprehension for storing them like that comes from my carnauba days, where after some time the pad would get moldy.
Looks like that has changed with synthetics though.

Probably depends on how fast you go through a can too...

I wash my pads after using them. No matter how well you cleaned your car it is possible/likely that the pads will pick up dirt or airborne particles. I'd not want to reuse a pad without first cleaning it.
